This is the shocking moment a furious Lidl customer launched a broccoli at a fellow shopper during a heated row at the checkout.

The footage, shared by sisters Afsaneh and Hanieh, showed a woman screaming at customers and staff after complaining about the slow pace of the self-checkout machines at the Salford store.

When she realises she is being recorded, she tells the woman behind the camera to shut her mouth before scanning the broccoli and hurling it, as Lidl staff are left in a stunned silence.

The fuming customer is heard saying: ‘Wait until you get outside, who asked you to get involved? Do you actually think I’m ar**d? You started it you stupid cow.’

In the clip, the raging customer can be seen shouting at the woman recording the clip before brandishing the broccoli as Lidl staff intervene.

Commenting on the aftermath of the ordeal, TikTok user @harnandsarn said: ‘We live in a society now where we are afraid to speak up it seems.

‘This woman was screaming & shouting at an innocent man just for going on his phone at the self check out saying he is taking too long.

‘Nobody wanted to speak up to protect him, so I speak up and say calm down and get fully attacked’.

The shocking scenes came as a surprise to those watching the clip online, while others were quick to poke fun at the bizarre encounter.

One TikTok user commented: ‘You know she was fuming when she got home and had no broccoli for her dinner.’
