A CHILD is among at least ten people who have been hurt after a racing driver lost control of his car.

The vehicle smashed into a crowd of spectators at an arena Patergassen, Austria, during a rally event.

The driver lost control of his car while speeding around a bend before careering through a fence and into the audience.

One witness told Krone: "Suddenly we heard screams, people looking for help ran towards us."

At least ten people have been injured, including a child and two who are seriously hurt.

Andreas Foditsch, commander of FF Patergassen, said: "Everyone is in shock."

Those seriously injured were airlifted to hospital and the rest of the event was cancelled.

The driver of the car – a Toyota – was uninjured.

It comes after 15 people died after a bus smashed into an ambulance dealing with another incident.

Three firefighters, two paramedics and two journalists are among those killed on the highway between Gaziantep and Nizip in Turkey.

Horror pictures from the scene show debris strewn across the road with dozens of panicked people surrounding the smashed vehicles.

Turkish Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu confirmed the deaths, and added that the other eight fatalities were bus passengers.
