A southwestern car park has come under heavy fire from outraged motorists after they racked up astronomical bills upwards of £100.
People have been slapped with massive fines for parking overnight at Falmouth Harbour, which they say is “unclear” and “totally unfair”.
Many claim to have been confused thinking that there is no charge for parking there after 6pm, only to return the following morning to huge fines.

Despite being owned by the local harbour, the site is managed by a firm called Creative Car Parking Solutions,CornwallLivereports.
One woman who allegedly read the signage said she thought it would be free to park there through the night and was left “totally shocked” when she learned the hard way that it wasn’t.
A photographer from Redruth, Izzy Pullen, had taken a trip to Falmouth to celebrate her engagement, but things turned sour after falling foul of the infamous spot.
She said the rates displayed only ran as far as 6pm – so when she arrived there at 8pm she thought she was in for a free night.

Not the case though, it turns out she missed a separate, poorly lit, sign that said it was actually £2 to leave the motor there through the early hours.
She said: "It is despicable that this charge is not stated more clearly at the location.
“After reading further online, this is a frustration that has been felt by many, not just myself, with complaints going back to 2019 regarding the clarity of the signage and the lack of lighting, illuminating the notices."
She added: "In this economic climate, £100 is an exceptional amount of money to be charged, not to mention the confusion felt trying to establish why I've been charged after reading the parking terms noted at the location.
"If I am to appeal this ticket and lose, I will be charged the full £100.
"So I have no choice but to pay the discounted £56. I feel like this is putting vulnerable people in such an unfair position."
She’s not alone in her frustration, with many users of Parkopedia also venting their frustrations for similar issues, with many have been on the park’s pointy end since 2019.
Izzy added: "I would like to understand why this issue has still not been dealt with and why innocent people are getting stung with these astronomical fines when the parking terms are in no way clear, obvious or fair.
"The parking rates are fair enough, but the signage and clarity of these terms are simply outrageous. It feels as though this is an attempt to catch people out intentionally and as a result, I'm sure people will only be dissuaded from visiting the Falmouth Quay."
One Parkopedia user said: "Just received a £60 fine for being in the car park for 16minutes after 6pm, no idea I had to pay overnight, poorly lit and poor signage, absolute thieves!"
A second said: "If you like £100 bills in the post for eating some chips in your car at 9:30 at night. this is the place for you. otherwise avoid giving these leeches any money."
