A WOMAN has been found dead near a train station on Easter Sunday and cops launch an investigation.
Officers were called to the tracks near Ashton-Under-Lyne, in Manchester, just before 4pm after reports of a dead body being discovered.
British Transport Police confirmed a woman was found and investigations suspended services between Ashton-under-Lyne and Manchester Victoria until 8pm.
A spokesperson for British Transport Police (BTP) said: "British Transport Police were called to the railway tracks near Ashton-under-Lyne shortly before 4pm on Sunday 9 April.
"Sadly a woman was pronounced deceased at the scene.
"The woman’s family has been informed and our thoughts are with them at this time.
