A SUSPECT has been arrested after two young pupils were stabbed on their way to school this morning in Germany.

The two girls from Illerkirchberg, outside of Munich, are 13 and 14 years old.

The girls were attacked around 7.30am while walking to school, and have been taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

A suspect fled into a nearby building, according to German newspaper Bild, and cops stormed the building before making an arrest.

Two other people inside the building are also believed to have been taken into custody.

It's unknown if the attacker knew the two girls, but an investigation has begun.

Police are unsure of a motive at this time.
