UK weather: Brits lap up 27C sunshine today after glorious weekend of sun – but rain is on the way | The Sun

BRITS are set to bask in 27C sunshine today after enjoying a glorious weekend of sun.

Families hit parks and beaches to soak up the sun over the weekend, which saw Saturday provisionally named by the Met Office as the hottest day of the year so far, with 32.7C recorded in Heathrow.




The sunny day came as the Met Office revealed temperatures have soared above 30C for seven days straight in parts of the UK.

And while forecasters have said Brits can expect to enjoy 27C sun today, rain is on its way.

The Met Office has said a band of rain and showers continue to move towards the southeast today which will bring in fresher conditions behind.

A yellow thunderstorm warning spanning Northern Ireland, northern parts of England and Wales as well as southern Scotland had been issued by the Met Office but this ended at midnight on Sunday.

Brits to lap up ANOTHER day of sun today – but thunderstorms are on the way

It means temperatures will be down compared to the previous few days but Brits can still expect to be enjoy pleasant temperatures today – with a Met Office map showing 27C is expected around London at about 5pm today.

Most parts will remain dry with sunny spells although there could be further showers later on.

It will be cooler away from the far southeast, the forecaster predicts.

Overnight, rain will continue to move southeast and will be slow-moving at times.

It will remain humid with mist and low cloud in the southeast while it will be clearer and much cooler with some isolated showers in the northwest.

Tuesday will also be mostly dry and sunny with rain eventually clearing up by the end of Tuesday.

It will be much cooler too with temperatures around average for this time of year, away from the far southeast.

Looking ahead to the rest of the working week, it will be cooler for all by Wednesday with some sunshine although it will become cloudier with spells of rain from the west later in the day.

Conditions will remain changeable for further spells of rain across Thursday and Friday.
