UK weather: Exact date for 25C temperatures to return is revealed as Brits enjoy brief break from a miserable summer | The Sun

BRITAIN could reach 25C later this week as hot weather offers a welcome break from the miserable summer.

London is forecast to enjoy highs of 24C on Friday, as is Norwich, Lincoln and Cambridge.

But storm clouds are gathering this weekend as a deluge is expected to drench much of the UK on Saturday.

Scotland and the south will be hit by the worst of the rain with 32 mm/hour expected to fall in London, Kent and Cambridgeshire early on Saturday.

As for Tuesday, rain will roll in off the Atlantic resulting in a "dull, dank and murky" start for much of the south west of England, the Met Office say.

These showers are expected to continue through to the afternoon and push west across South Wales before hitting London, the West Midlands and East Anglia from midday.

Met Office meteorologist Alex Deakin said: "Warmer weather is on the way but Tuesday will still be pretty cool for most areas.

"A bit of a north south split with the weather really for Tuesday with a lot of cloud in the south, something brighter further north.

"A few heavy ones across the far north, only slowly easing and down to the south west, cloud and rain and drizzle."
