We risk raising nation of chemically castrated kids, says Tavistock Dr

‘Being trans or non-binary is a new sub-culture… but we risk raising a nation of chemically castrated children’: Doctor who spent 12 years working with vulnerable teens at the Tavistock warns over gender ideology

A former Tavistock Trust doctor has said Britain could become a nation of chemically castrated children if trans and gender theory is allowed to fester unchallenged.

Dr Az Hakeem worked at the Tavistock and Portman Foundation Trust for 12 years and is the author of Detrans: When Transition Is Not The Solution, which was published this month.

Now a Consultant Psychiatrist on Harley Street, he told MailOnline society is in an ‘awful situation’ when it comes to trans people – and it’s even worse for those who realise they want to revert to their original sex.

Such people are known as detransitioners, or detrans.

It is unclear how many trans people who have a sex change detransition. Dr Hakeem said trans activists often claim it is one per cent, but this was ‘made up’.

He added the reality is that no one knows, because sex changes are ‘the only medical or surgical intervention for which there is no follow-up data collected or follow-up studies’.

He said 26 per cent of his patients at the Tavistock and Portman regretted transitioning.

Dr Hakeem said: ‘They are left in this situation of being adults with no genitals who the services don’t want to see and the trans community disowns.

‘Everyone is using the term trans but its an umbrella term. No one talks about transvestites.

‘It’s so unfashionable to be called transvestite so they lump them all as trans.

‘The majority of trans are transvestites – that’s more a fetish thing.’

By saying trans, Dr Hazkeem said, ‘You’re lumping [transexuals] together people who have fetishes – men who get excited about wearing women’s clothes, and then men who fantasise about having a vagina and breasts.’

He added: ‘Kids are all identifying as trans or non-binary.

‘It’s become a new subculture. I was a post-punk goth. The current subculture is not a medical condition.

‘They are not really trans, it’s just the cool thing to do. When I was a teenage goth there was no goth identity clinic, luckily.

‘We are castrating them chemically with puberty blockers. We think it’s treatment but it’s not the solution.

‘It’s an awful situation.

‘The culture is one where people don’t challenge someone who says they are a different sex.

‘Increasingly organisations are going on with this narrative that people are born in the wrong body.

‘No one is born in the wrong body.’

Dr Hakeem hopes his book will give a voice to detransitioners but also ‘allow people to think outside of this very rigid gender stereotype they are being given’.

He has also aimed to dispel myths about gender identity, such as the existence of being born in the wrong body.

He said: ‘Another [is] if you don’t affirm your child’s gender they will kill themselves – that’s not true.

‘Anyone who has kids will know just how prevalent it ios for kids to sat “I’m trans, I’m non-binary”.

‘A teacher has suggested because they’re a tomboy, have they thought about being trans.

‘The ideology has entered the system. A lot of people live in fear of their children coming home and saying “I’m trans”.

‘It’s nonsense.

‘If you have a four-year-old, they don’t know much about anything. The danger is that we are having a nation full of castrated children.’

He said the increase of kids identifying as trans was down to ‘a mixture of societal pressure and reinforcement by organisation who have been indoctrinated’.

Dr Hakeem said it was completely normal for a child to question their gender.

However, instead of asking children why are thinking that, many people are simply agreeing with them, or ‘affirming’ their choice.

He said: ‘There’s a big push for affirmation only. Affirmation is not therapy, it’s a form of grooming.

‘We cart them off to gender clinics and physically castrate them.

‘Proper therapy is asking the child how they came to that conclusion, not just to say “yes you are [trans]”.

‘There’s this myth that people are born in the wrong body.’

He added that the existence of scores of different genders was ‘nonsense’.

‘It’s not evidence based. They have captured schools, the police, universities.

‘It’s a bit like people in a cult. They believe it. They are not psychopathic, malicious people.

‘They have been scared into believing his. If you’re not with them you’re against them.

‘That’s why you can’t have a debate.

‘They try and destroy you, get you cancelled, complain to your employer.’

However, Dr Hakeem believes there is a way for everyday people to fight back against the wave of pro-affirmation ideology.

He urged people to ‘go back to believing in reality and common sense and science’.

He said parents whose children claim to be trans should chat to their kids about having those thoughts rather than just telling them they are or are not trans.
