A MEDICAL center has been evacuated following reports of an active shooter as police hunt for an armed man.

Missouri police ordered an evacuation of staff and patients at Western Missouri Medical Center's main building in Warrensburg on Friday morning.

The evacuation orders came after an armed man reportedly barricaded himself in the building.

"*UPDATE: Police on site, and staff and patients being evacuated now.* This is not a drill. Active shooter at Western Missouri Medical Center main hospital building," the hospital tweeted.

Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol have been at the hospital for an hour and have confirmed that no shots have been fired, despite the medical center reporting an active shooter.

"No shots have been fired. The male has yet to be identified or located by law enforcement," MSHP tweeted at 10am.
