Birgitte, Duchess of Gloucester is married to lowkey royal Prince Richard.
She was born in Odense, Denmark in 1946 as Birgitte Eva Henriksen.
She took her mother's ancestral name van Deurs in 1966 after her parents separated.

Birgitte was educated in Odense and at finishing schools in Lausanne and Cambridge.
After studying Commercial and Economic Studies in Copenhagen, she moved back to the United Kingdom in 1971.
She worked as a secretary at the Royal Danish Embassy in London.
While Prince Richard and Birgitte keep a low profile they sometimes carry out official duties on behalf of the Crown.

The couple have three children together, Alexander, 47, Davina, 44, and Rose, 41..
Alexander, Earl of Ulster, was born in 1974 and is 30th in line to the throne.
He is married to Claire Alexandra Booth and they have two children -, Xan Richard Anders, Lord Culloden, born in 2007, and Lady Cosima Rose Alexandra.
In 1977 the Duke and Duchess's second child, Lady Davina Elizabeth Alice Benedikte,was born.
