BURGLARS have revealed the best ways to keep your home safe – including never letting a tradesman use your bathroom.

A number of seasoned crooks opened up about their methods, proving it's the most simple things which can leave a homeowner vulnerable.

According to Family Handyman, if a tradesman asks to "use your bathroom" on the job they could make some tweaks to the inside.

Burglars told the site a thief could easily unlatch a window from the inside – allowing them to get back in when you least expect it.

The best way around this is to hire a tradesman you trust and know is a professional.

Other tips include clearing any letters and overflowing papers from your doorstep to make it look like you're at home.
