A SELFIE-obsessed woman seduced a man she met on a dating app and then set up him up to be robbed when she realised he had access to money.

Gemma Frost, 23, of Rogerstone, Newport, met victim Christopher Stanley online in May 2020.

He loaned her £210 but when he refused to lend money to her friend, Frost conspired to rob Mr Stanley with the help of two men.

The pair arranged to meet for the first time on June 3, 2020, with her picking him up.

He jumped into the front seat and the pair headed toward Manor Way in Cardiff when she saw two men coming towards the car, Cardiff Crown Court heard.

Prosecutor David Pugh said: "The defendant turned to him and said, 'they look dodgy'. One of them was wearing a dressing gown with the hood up and a surgical mask.

"The other person was wearing a tracksuit with the hood up and a piece of fabric over his neck.

"The two men were coming from the junction and, to the victim's surprise, Ms Frost steered to the kerb and stopped near those two men and turned the engine off."

He says the two men came to the vehicle, opened the passenger door where the victim was sitting and aggressively shouted at him: "Get back. We will kill you, we're going to hurt you", Wales Online reports.

Mr Pugh said: "They grabbed the victim and tried to push him into the back.

"The victim managed to break free and exited the vehicle."

In doing so he briefly fell on the pavement, but was able to escape, the court heard.

He continued: "The two men got into the car and the defendant drove off."

A "very shaken" Mr Stanley later received a phone call from Frost who did not seem to be distressed.

Police discussed the incident with Frost before arresting her on June 4 along with the two men.

CCTV footage traced the car back to a Fairwater address before it visited Frost's home in Chorley Close.

Frost changed her story between interviews and gave up the names of the two men.

There was not enough evidence to charge the men.

'THOROUGHLY ASHAMED'

Frost later pleaded guilty to conspiracy to kidnap, saying she organised the robbery "at a low point in her life" and from "hanging around with older individuals with significant criminal backgrounds".

She claimed to have beenforced by the two older men to take part in the robbery after they learned the victim had loaned her money and said she was too scared and intimidated to refuse.

Sentencing, Recorder Paul Hobson said: "I make it clear, I sentence you in accordance with the basis of plea.

"I accept the prime movers in this were the two men you had been associated with and during the incident no weapons were involved."

He told Frost she should be "thoroughly ashamed"of her actions and was lucky he escaped "relatively unscathed" from a frightening experience.
