Parliament Square off! XL Bully owners clash with pro-EU activists mocked for their interpretive dancing as the groups hold marches in London at the same time

Marching through Westminster is intended to show unity among the people and rattle politicians’ resolve.

But this was not the case with two simultaneous marches in London on Saturday – which suggested a country divided.

As XL bully owners protested against plans to ban the breed, they seemed to turn their anger away from the Government and towards blue-clad EU Rejoiner activists.

One man in the dog owners’ group was heard screaming ‘traitors’ at the pro-EU mob as a woman laughed in support.

Many turned to social media to poke fun at the chaos – suggesting the protests were failing to make a difference. One wrote: ‘Well, I don’t like XL bullies and I don’t like ‘Rejoin’ protesters… but which is worse? There’s only one way to find out… FIGHT!!!’

The Rejoiners were also harangued by anti-Ulez protesters who criticised their ongoing attempts to overturn the 2016 referendum. One shouted: ‘You lost, that’s it. How many years ago? Six years ago.’ The pro-EU group also attracted mockery online for their interpretive dancing outside the Houses of Parliament.

Comments included: ‘Politics is about persuasion. A demonstration is about ‘demonstrating’ political power! Where does creative dance fit in?’

Others wrote: ‘It’s things like this that made Brexit so attractive to many in the first place.’ XL bully fans were also ridiculed online for leaving their pets at home amid fear of a PR disaster if one became aggressive. A message went out beforehand: ‘Please do not take your dogs to protest. The police will antagonise and seize your dog.’

Rejoiner Max Hardy said on X, formerly Twitter: ‘It’s been quite the political education.’
