Jasmine Harman, who is best known for presenting the property show A Place in the Sun, has revealed she was able to rescue a “terrified” dog from the middle of a highway.
Taking to Instagram today, the 47-year-old Channel 4 presenter shared a sweet picture of herself sitting with the calm-looking pooch in view of her 139,000 followers.
In the caption, she wrote: “Yesterday the kids and I found this little dog running loose in the middle of the highway!
“I pulled over to try and help him and he was so terrified he crawled over on his belly and allowed me to take him by the collar, out of harm’s way.
“He had no name tag, was very friendly but also very hot / thirsty / scared,” she continued.

“I put him in the car, and we drove around to see if we could find someone looking for him.
“In the end we took him to a local vet to scan his chip but there were no details registered.”
Jasmine went on to explain how, once her family called the police and they were able to take the dog in, things took a turn for the better.
“Happily, his owners have been found and he had quite an adventure,” she revealed. “But it made me think why have a chip then not register the details?”

Jasmine then went on to issue an urgent warning to pet owners, insisting: “Please make sure your dog has collar & tag with your details on it. And make sure your details are registered to the microchip.
“I took my dog Astro to the vet this morning and asked them to double check that his chip details come up when scanned, and there was nothing there!!! So if you are travelling with your pet, bear in mind your details may not show.
“The second thing I thought was that this type of breed gets a really bad press, but this little boy, whilst very strong was as soppy as anything. The kids adored him.”
There are currently five illegal dog breeds in the UK: the Pit Bull terrier, the Japanese Tosa, the Dogo Argentino and the Fila Brasileiro.
With a few exceptions, it is illegal to own, breed or sell dogs on this list, as many were originally bred with fighting in mind, and American XL bully dogs will also be banned by the government after recent attacks.
Jasmine continued: “My heart goes out to anyone who has been hurt by a dog, but I genuinely believe that more often than not, irresponsible owners are to blame for their dog’s poor socialisation, lack of training and out of control behaviour.
“Some people encourage aggressive behaviour in dogs they see as status symbols.
“We shouldn’t tarnish them all with the same brush,” she concluded with the hashtags #deednotbreed, #lostdog and #bullybreed. (sic)
