Amanda Holden has been left frustrated after uncovering a fake account using her name and photos on Instagram.
The Britain’s Got Talent judge, 52, is the latest celebrity to be targeted by scammers, with the likes of Holly Willoughby also finding social media profiles using her identity over recent months.
Amanda took to her Instagram Stories to vent her frustration over the situation, urging her followers to block the account and angrily questioning the motives behind the scam, which saw some of her fans asked for money.
"This is a scam account block it," the mum-of-two wrote alongside a screenshot of the fake profile.
She added: "Several followers have been asked for money," before angrily asking: "Why do people do it??"
The Instagram profile had been created with the same handle as Amanda's real account, just with two numbers added to the end to make it seem legitimate, along with a professional snap of the star.
It stated it was Amanda's 'back up page' and had already followed 257 fans when the BGT judge shared a screengrab of the account, with 62 following back.
Fellow celebrities including Dawn French and Martin Lewis have also been the victims of scams, having had their names or images used in false adverts that they did not approve.
Amanda's scam scandal comes after it was announced that her ex-husband Les Dennis, 69, will be participating in this year's Strictly Come Dancing.
The news was announced during Amanda's recent luxury getaway with husband Chris Hughes and is said to have put a dampener on her holiday as she is 'embarrassed' that her past will come to light once again. Amanda’s marriage to Les ended after her affair with actor Neil Morrissey came to light in 2000.
A source told OK! that Les’ quest to lift the glitterball trophy is troubling Amanda and threatening to tarnish her glossy image.
“She’s embarrassed that people are highly likely to be talking about her and Les again if he graces our screens on Strictly,” said our source.
The insider added: “She also fears that the scandal of her affair will be dredged up once more. She didn’t behave well in that situation or come off positively, so it’s not something she wants dug back up.
“She never really talks about her marriage to Les in public, or mentions him, and would rather it wasn’t talked about socially.”
