Amanda Holden’s ‘brutal’ true feelings about ex-husband Les Dennis after split

Amanda Holden teases Sky History's Sex: A Bonkers History

Amanda Holden once admitted she wanted to have multiple children, but not with ex-husband Les Dennis.

The Britain’s Got Talent star and Les were married for eight years from 1995 to 2003, when their divorce was finalised.

At the time of their split, Amanda, now 52, reportedly said she was “very broody” and was keen to have kids in the next couple of years with somebody else.

According to The Mirror, she said: “I terribly want children but I didn’t want to have them with Les.

“That’s a horribly brutal thing to say, but when you do, you know you have to move on.”

Amanda and Les’ marriage hit the headlines after she had an affair with her Shakespeare co-star Neil Morrissey in 2000.

She and her spouse briefly split at the time and after rekindling, they separated for good in 2002.

Reports at the time said Amanda was the one who initiated the divorce, which was finalised the following year.

10 years on, the actress reflected on her affair and the backlash she received.

Speaking to Good Housekeeping Magazine, she said: “I found the fall from grace incredibly hard to deal with. I can’t bear not to be liked.

“Then I had an affair and overnight turned into this awful person. There are no hard feelings with Les.”

She went on to say she wished her ex “the best” and said they had now both moved on.

“I don’t believe women have affairs for no reason. Women don’t seek sex – we seek love and affirmation,” Amanda added.

The singer has been married to her second husband Chris Hughes since 2008 and they share two daughters together.

Les tied the knot with third wife Claire Nicholson in 2009 and they have a son and daughter.

In a recent interview with The Times, the ex-Strictly contestant said he had read some “nice things” Amanda had said about him, but confirmed they were no longer in contact.

“That was very kind of her,” he spilled. “Maybe with time she has been able to look back and see things differently.

“We’re not in touch but I am happy that she’s happy.”

Ahead of marrying Amanda, he was married to his first wife Lynne Webster for 16 years.
