Amanda Owen takes week off social media amid affair scandal

Yorkshire Shepherdess Amanda Owen takes week off social media as she’s slammed for ‘living a double life’ amid affair scandal

  • Amanda Owen, 48, and businessman Robert Davies, 71, first met five years ago
  • His wife Yasumi discovered a love note from Owen to Davies only one year ago
  • Yasumi was ‘completely blindsided’ after he confessed to an affair with the star

Yorkshire Shepherdess Amanda Owen has taken a week off social media as she has been slammed for ‘living a double life’ amid her affair scandal.

The mother-of-nine, 48, became popular after starring on docuseries Our Yorkshire Farm in which she chronicles her rural family life.

But fans have been turning their back on her after she was discovered to have been having a five-year affair with married businessman Robert Davies, 71 and living apart from husband Clive after they announced their split in June.

After Robert’s wife Yasumi, 56, accused Amanda of living a ‘TV lie’ after she rumbled the affair, fans have also criticised her for not keeping them up to date with her personal life.

Her most recent Instagram post includes a gallery of her nine children playing outside on the farm.

She wrote: ‘Budding naturalists, botanists, ecologists, ornithologists, hydrologists, geologists. And farmers. #yorkshire #countryside #outdoors #nature #farm #learning.’

Her image of a devoted farmer’s wife and mother has been blown apart by the news that she was leading a double life, having an affair while married to her husband of 22 years, who appears on the show with her.

Yasumi , 56, claimed she ‘lost everything’ after learning of Amanda’s relationship with Robert who she married 12 years ago.

The clandestine fling between the star and Mr Davies began as she rose to fame on the TV hit Our Yorkshire Farm.

She enlisted the web developer to work on her website.

The affair came to light after Yasumi found a note from the Yorkshire Shepherdess in Robert’s car and a box of Amanda’s possession hidden in her bedroom.

Her findings followed the breakdown of Amanda’s 22-year marriage to husband Clive in June – with whom she shares nine children.

MailOnline takes a look at all the clues which exposed the secret affair.

There were several clues that exposed Yorkshire Shepherdess Amanda’s affair with businessman Robert Davies, 71 (pictured together last month)

Jilted wife: Mr Davies and fifth wife Yasumi met in Tokyo in 2011 and were married on Christmas Day that year after a whirlwind romance – she has been left heartbroken by the betrayal

An intimate love note sent from Amanda to Robert

Yasumi was horrified to discover a secret handwritten note written by Amanda and sent to web designer Robert while cleaning his car around a year ago.

It had been concealed in a bag in the boot of the car by Robert.

Heartbreakingly, the contents showed the depth of feelings between the two and the note read: ‘Life is too short & happiness is too rare. I love you.’

Investment banker Yasumi, who hails from Tokyo recognised the handwriting from a signed copy of Owen’s new book as Robert had been working with Amanda on her personal website.

Yasumi said the businessman was ‘really kind’ until 2018 when she noticed a sudden change in his behaviour towards her after he started working with Amanda on her farming website.

After finding the note, Yasumi set about looking for more clues and she told The Sun that she then discovered some of Owen’s jewellery hidden in a box in their bedroom, including a necklace she had worn on TV which read: ‘Together forever.’

Yasumi, who married Mr Davies on Christmas Day in 2011 following a whirlwind romance, later uncovered a key chain which said: ‘Unbridled love. R & A.’

Mr Davies, whose eldest daughter is the same age as Amanda, instantly confessed to the affair when Yasumi confronted her husband, who has had five wives.

He had said he would put a stop to the affair but he and Amanda soon resumed their relationship.

Yasumi claimed that Robert seemed more concerned about the damage the affair could do to Amanda’s TV career rather than her own feelings.

More pain: Yasumi, (pictured with Robert), then discovered some of Amanda’s jewellery hidden in a box in their bedroom, including a necklace which read: ‘Together forever’

Clay pigeon shooting and theatre trips together

Amanda has known her new love Robert for at least five years since she recruited him to update her personal website in 2018.

Their friendship is believed to have blossomed through working closely together.

A source close to Yasumi said: ‘She knew he had a friendship with Amanda but thought it was nothing more.

‘They went on a clay pigeon shoot together in 2021 and he went with her on her theatre tours, but insisted there was nothing more to it.’

Yasumi said: ‘I wonder if she has ever thought about my feelings?

‘I didn’t know anything and I was alone. I had no suspicions about them. I thought it was purely about business.’

It is understood that Robert, who has three children from three earlier marriages, ended the relationship with Amanda in March 2022 after being issued an ultimatum by his wife.

But he moved out two months later after rekindling the romance with the Our Yorkshire Farm star.

Amanda downplays split from husband of 22 years

Mother-of-nine Amanda and husband Clive attracted thousands of adoring fans as the series documented her farming life – earning her more than £1million.

But details of Amanda’s shocking affair came out almost a year after she and her co-star husband Clive, 68, announced their unanticipated split in June.

However, the TV star was keen to downplay the separation, saying it was ‘not a big story.’

Appearing on Lorraine in January, Amanda insisted the collapse of her marriage was ‘a reality she has to get on with’ while juggling the responsibility of farm management with parenthood.

The couple maintain an amicable relationship while managing their Ravenseat Farm in rural Swaledale, and Amanda said their duties overshadow their estrangement.

She said: ‘It’s not a big story. I feel like there are so many people in similar situations, and it’s the reality. We talk about reality television but that is the reality.

‘We all have to get on. You know, there’s a lot to do. There’s the land to manage, there’s the animals to manage, obviously childcare and everything else. So we have to get on with it.’

Owen also insisted she her responsibilities on the farm never prevent her from taking time for herself – even when she’s tending to the animals.

She said: ‘I am content but you do have to take a little bit of time for yourself. Every morning, even if I’m feeding the sheep, a little bit of mascara on. It makes you feel good about yourself.’

Amanda confirmed she had separated from her husband of 21 years Clive, 68, last summer, and they share nine children together. Pictured: The couple in 2020

Robert’s fourth wife accuses him of ‘getting married, having an affair and moving on’

Five-times married Robert was accused by his fourth wife of being a repeat offender when it comes to infidelity.

Jan Coates, 72, the fourth of his spouses, told Daily Mail he ‘hasn’t changed in two decades’ as he proceeds to ‘get married, have an affair and move on.’

His former wife revealed that he cheated two years into their marriage, which came to an end in 2001.

Jan explained: ‘That’s what he does, gets married, has an affair and moves on. He is very charming but he is also very ruthless in the way he treats people. I think he gets bored easily.

‘But if he marries Amanda Owen he would be like Henry VIII with six wives and that’s not normal.

‘He has not changed in two decades. I am not vicious or vindictive but I would say he loves the chase for females and loves fame and fortune. But maybe they will suit each other.’

MailOnline contacted Amanda’s representatives for comment.

Mr Davies had lost his third wife to cancer and had a six-year-old daughter from that marriage as well as two older children, one each from his two earlier marriages.

He was working as a graphic designer and ‘love-bombed’ Mrs Coates, a divorced mother-of-two.

‘He rang me up after the party and asked me out for a drink,’ she said. ‘We hit it off really well and the relationship progressed from there.’

A ‘charming romantic’, Mr Davies proposed at Christmas and they married the following September in a grand wedding at Dalhousie Castle, near Edinburgh.
