Amy Dowden asks for help amid ‘painful’ hair loss during cancer battle

Amy Dowden has asked fans for help amid her 'painful' hair loss during her ongoing cancer battle.

The Strictly Come Dancing star reached out to her 483,000 Instagram followers as she asked for advice on what to do about her "painful" and "sore" scalp and head.

She recently revealed that her second round of chemotherapy treatment has had a "heart-breaking" effect as she has started to lose her hair.

The professional dancer, 33, announced in June that she had undergone a mastectomy after discovering that she had stage three breast cancer.

Amy has remained honest and open with her fans throughout her journey.

Amy has decided not to suffer in silence as she took to her Instagram story on Friday to ask her followers her help.

Posting to her story against a black background, she wrote: "So my scalp/head the last few days been quite sore and painful with the hair loss!

"Any tips of what may help this out there? Really appreciate. Will share to help others too."

She also left a box for her followers to leave their tips .

Then another post to her Instagram story saw Amy share a response which named "Lush' Superbalm Scalp Treatment" as a recommended product.

She told her fans: "Here's link guys. From a fellow pink sister @jennaherycz."

Amy, who married fellow professional dancer Ben Jones in July 2022, previously said she had found a lump in her breast the day before she planned to go on her belated honeymoon this year.

The ballroom star then announced her diagnosis in May of this year, as doctors told her she had stage three breast cancer, but she vowed to "get back on that dance floor".

Just last week, Amy opened up about her heartbreak as her hair started falling out as a result of her chemotherapy.

In a series of heartbreaking Instagram messages, she wrote about her second round of chemotherapy treatment: "What I’ve found harder this time round and the last few days is the hair shredding.

"Even though I’m cold capping you hope to keep 50 per cent of your hair and there are also many benefits to the hair growing back quicker too.

"But as much as I prepared myself waking up everyday gently combing my hair with a wide comb and seeing what comes out, it is just heart-breaking personally for me. I'm only washing my hair once, max twice a week, not using any heat on my hair or styling it so I just don’t feel like me."

Amy shared a video of the hair that had fallen out, writing: "The reality when I gently comb", with a broken heart emoji.
