Anne Heche is set to be laid to rest in Los Angeles’s famous Hollywood Forever cemetery, according to her sons.

The actress died this month at the age of 53 after being left with serious injuries following a car crash in which the vehicle she had been in crashed into a home and burst into flames.

Heche had been left with a sever anoxic brain injury as a result of the accident and never regained consciousness in hospital.

Her sons, Homer Laffoon, 20, and Atlas Heche Tupper, 13, confirmed that their mother would be laid to rest at Hollywood Forever cemetery ‘among her peers’ after she was reportedly cremated on August 18.

Laffoon said in a statement via PA: ‘My brother Atlas and I want to thank Tyler, Noelle and all the amazing people at Hollywood Forever for their kindness, compassion and generosity of spirit.

‘We are convinced our Mom would love the site we have chosen for her; it’s beautiful, serene and she will be among her Hollywood peers.

‘Most importantly, Hollywood Forever is a living place, where people attend movies and concerts and other events.’

He added: ‘She was our Mom, but the kindness and the outpouring of the past few days reminded us that she also belongs to her fans, to the entertainment community, and now, to the ages.’

Heche had been declared legally dead on August 11 but remained on life support until matches were found for her organs to be donated, before she was ‘peacefully taken off life support’ on August 14, nine days after the crash.

Her death was ruled as an accident by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner, citing smoke inhalation and thermal injuries as the cause of death.

The Hollywood Forever cemetery is a final resting place of many figures from the entertainment industry including Judy Garland, Burt Reynolds and Charlie Chaplin among others, and is Hollywood’s only cemetery.

As well as being open to the public daily, the cemetery also holds cultural events including film screenings and lectures throughout the year.
