Alan Carr, 43, chatted about Anneka Rice’s, 61, supposed lack of activity when she appeared on Channel 4 show Celebrity Hunted back in 2017. The comedian, who hosted the special episode which was filmed in aid of Stand Up To Cancer, giggled about the former Strictly Come Dancing 2019 contestant taking a very relaxed approach to the programme. During an appearance on The One Show, he claimed she was told off by producers for “not moving”, as the fast-paced series is based on a challenge to evade capture by an expert team of police officers, intelligence and army personnel. Alan recalled: “Do you remember Anneka Rice on Hunted?
“She just hid in the garden under the tarpaulin with some mini Gin and Tonics.”
The TV personality then mimicked Anneka’s cheeky antics as he pretended to open a can and take a sip.
Speaking about the reaction from producers, he added: “I think the producer said, ‘You have to move at some point. This is really awful telly’.”
The One Show hosts Patrick Kielty, 48, and Michelle Ackerley, 35, seemed inspired by Anneka’s idea.
Patrick quipped in response: “That’s what we’re going to do after the show.”
“Good! Tarpaulin,” Alan jokingly replied.
The star’s discussion about Anneka’s time on Hunted comes after she became the second celebrity to leave Strictly Come Dancing last weekend.
The presenter and her partner Kevin Clifton, 36, lost out in the dance-off against David James, 49, and his professional partner Nadiya Bychkova, 30.
The judges unanimously chose to save David, putting him through to week four.
Anneka and Kevin failed to impress the panel with their Charleston in Movie Week to Woo Hoo from the film Kill Bill.
Opening up about their performance on Saturday night ahead of the Results Show, the star vented about the low score they received from the judges.
In a video shared with Strictly’s 775,000 Instagram followers, she said: “It’s a bit disappointing because, honestly, I’ve had blood all over my limbs and I am bruised all round…
Kevin added: “We didn’t half work for it this week.”
“I mean, that’s the annoying thing,” she chimed in.
“We put quite a lot of work into that — hours!”
“Well, I am proud of you and what you did and all the work you put in,” her dance partner told her reassuringly.
Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday at 6.40pm on BBC One.
