Ant-Man 3 Director Discusses Cassie Langs Age In Upcoming Marvel Movie

The director of the upcoming movie Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, is opening up about one character in particular – Cassie Lang!

If you recall, Kathryn Newton joined the cast of the upcoming MCU Phase 5 movie back in 2020, taking over the role after it was previously portrayed by Emma Fuhrmann in Avengers: Endgame.

Now, we’re getting some more insight as to how old Cassie is and what this means for her in the upcoming movie.

Find out inside…

“To us, after the events of Infinity War and Endgame, it really occurred to us that… Cassie’s going to be 18 in this movie! That’s great! The whole theme is time, and how much time he’s missed, and his main motivation is just, ‘I want time with my daughter,’” director Peyton Reed told Nerdbunker.

“And now, he’s coming into contact with the villain of this movie, Kang the Conqueror, who sort of has dominion over time. What does that mean to them?” he continued. “But I love the idea of Scott still relating to Cassie as a kid, but she’s not. She’s a young adult now, she has her own ideas about what it means to do good in the world, and she’s trying to find her voice as a hero, and she can also be a little critical of her father.”

Peyton continued to talk about the continued relatable themes of family in the upcoming third Ant-Man movie.

“That seemed really rich, something very relatable with families, right? Because you don’t always tell your parents everything that you do, they don’t always tell you everything that they’ve experienced, that’s exciting to us, and the Ant-Man movies are always about families,” he said. “Throwing all these different complications at the characters and sort of pushing them to their limits, that I think is one of the things Paul [Rudd] and I love about these movies.”

In case you missed it, check out Kathryn in action as Cassie Lang and suited up as her superhero alter-ego in the first trailer for Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania!

Cassie has two different alter-egos, Stature and Stinger, and while Marvel has not confirmed which one she’ll go by in the upcoming movie, her costume looks more like that of Stinger. We’ll have to wait until February to find out!
