Big Brothers Kerry in tears as trans contestant Hallie shares health heartbreak

Kerry says she feels 'protective' over Hallie

Big Brother contestant Hallie, who is transgender, has opened up about her transitioning journey, which left Kerry in tears.

During a candid chat with fellow housemates Jenkin and Kerry, 18-year-old Hallie revealed that it would cost around £30,000 for her to transition fully. She also revealed that she wanted to pay her mother back for all the years she paid for the treatment that is involved in transitioning.

With no topic off-limits, Jenkin asked Hallie what sort of treatment she had, to which she replied: “So at 16 I started HRT, which is like testosterone blockers and oestrogen.”

She continued: “So every night I have to do my gel, and it’s literally like cream, like you pump it on and you just rub it in, either in between your thighs or on your outer arm. So yeah, that’s what I’m on. Been on it since 16.”

She then revealed: “I stopped for a few months because I couldn’t afford it anymore privately.

“And then NHS were taking really long,” she continued. “And I went and basically said I was at risk of self-medicating, because I was, and they should offer a bridging prescription.”

She asked Kerry, who is an NHS manager, “Am I correct about that?”

Kerry was then seen heading to the diary room where she discussed the earlier conversation.

Holding back the tears Kerry said to Big Brother: “I felt… I feel really privileged”.

She continued: “And for the poor girl to say that she wasn’t being her authentic self, it was sad, but she told us now and I think she’s sort of just having a bit of a heart-to-heart with everyone and yeah it’s been amazing”.

Fans reacted to the special moment and one user on X, formerly Twitter said: “So important and nice to see so much open acceptance and care towards Hallie, especially from Kerry.”

Another user wrote: “Kerry saying she feels protective over Hallie [emotional emoji],” and a third penned:  “Kerry being protective of Hallie is just so wonderful. Please can we all be more like Kerry, Farida and Hallie?”

A fourth fan picked up on the relationship between Kerry, Hallie and Jenkin writing: “Kerry, Hallie, and Jenkin are such a lovely iconic trio and I’d love to see them go the distance (alongside Yinrun but she’s on her own vibe rn).” (sic)

Hallie announced to her fellow housemates at the start of the show that she was transgender.

She admitted that she felt she wasn’t being “authentic” by not telling them.

The teen youth worker chose not to tell her fellow contestants on launch night but had a change of heart the following day.

Whilst the housemates were gathered around the dining table Hallie said: “Hey guys, I just have something to say. Yesterday I feel like I wasn’t being 100% authentic in myself.”

She went on to reveal: “’I thought I’d let everyone know I’m trans, if you didn’t know already. I just thought I’d make that loud and clear. I’m a trans woman if you didn’t know.”

Her housemates reacted warmly to the news with Trish telling Hallie: “We’ve got you.”
