Boy George’s manager Paul Kemsley has warned that the singer can be a ‘bit of a control freak’ but is hopeful that the star won’t kick off on I’m A Celebrity.

Paul, 55, appeared on Wednesday’s This Morning, where he described Boy George, 61, as a ‘contradiction’ who loved to be managed but hated being told what to do.

The hitmaker has already clashed with Charlene White on the show just days in, over her dominating the cooking in camp.

‘Control freak’: Boy George’s manager Paul Kemsley has warned that the singer can be a ‘bit of a control freak’ but is hopeful that the star won’t kick off on I’m A Celebrity

When asked if Boy George would kick off, Paul said: ‘Probably. I mean we’ve had early signs of it.

He joked: ‘I mean there was a terrible trauma – undercooked mushrooms, big problem.

‘The thing is with George is he gets over it very, very quickly. So he has to get out, he has to talk to someone and then providing he’s had that voice, he’ll get over it.’

When Holly Willoughby asked him if Boy George has a problem with authority, Paul said: ‘Not really, he’s one of those contradictions.

Insight: Paul, 55, appeared on Wednesday’s This Morning, where he described Boy George, 61, as a ‘contradiction’ who loved to be managed but hated being told what to do

‘He loves to be managed and for me to tell him what to do and then he hates me telling him what to do, which makes it very difficult.

‘But I don’t think it’s an authority thing, I think he just has opinions, emotions, feelings and he needs to get them out.’

He added: ‘Listen, it’s so tough to watch it, when you love someone as much as I love him.

‘And I’m sitting here thinking, 4 weeks ago he was performing in front of 100,000 people and now he’s a water tank half-drowning.’

Convinced him: Paul added: ‘I talked him into it, I’m a terrible manager. What have I done? Guy’s a global icon and I’ve stuck him in a jungle!’

Speaking about the cooking drama, Paul explained: ‘He cooks a lot. He would like to cook. He’s a bit of a control freak, he likes control.

‘But he’s a kind, nice guy and he’s very into meditation and breathing and he’ll get through it. It’s very early doors, I mean he got himself into a big state emotionally, he was scared before he went it.

He revealed: ‘And there was a lead up where he was not doing it. He’s not one for surprises and there’s a lot of surprises in the show.’

Paul added: ‘I talked him into it, I’m a terrible manager. What have I done? Guy’s a global icon and I’ve stuck him in a jungle!’

Discussing the entry of Matt Hancock into the camp, Paul said George wouldn’t have any preconceptions of the MP.

He said: ‘I’m not saying he won’t’ kick off, but he’ll definitely meet him first and have an opinion. In other words he won’t have a preconceived way of treating someone.

‘I think he can relate, he’s been in the public eye for a long time. He’s a kind guy, he’s got his opinions for sure and there are certain subjects that if Matt Hancock touches that are no goes for George, we’ll see the response.

‘But I think he’s going to give him a chance, I’d be surprised if he didn’t.

‘I’m hoping he doesn’t kick off, he has this image – but he doesn’t actually do that. He’s really a calm guy, I’m very hopeful.’
