Renee Zellweger on Bridget Jones’s weight loss in sequel

Bridget Jones’s Diary bunny costume designer, Esme Young, 74, has looked back on her experience of working on two Bridget Jones films – including Bridget Jones’s Diary and Bridget Jones’s Baby.

In a new video released yesterday (August 2), Young revealed actress Renée Zellweger’s demands for the fitting of the iconic costume for the 2001 rom-com.

Speaking on The Great British Sewing Bee’s Instagram account, Young explained Zellweger was intent on having a very tight-fitting corset to go with a pair of ears and fluffy tail.

She said: “The bunny costume, it was fun to make.

“And she kept going to me ‘tighter, tighter, tighter’. And it’s because she wanted a cleavage.

“So I had to make it tighter and tighter and tighter. And, she couldn’t sit down in it.

“Luckily it wasn’t filming all day, but, yeah, she couldn’t sit down in it because it was so tight. It was really fun to do.”

The anecdote comes after Zellweger was photographed for the first time since reports emerged she is engaged to Ant Anstead.

The film star was spotted during a solo outing to get some food, stopping off at the petrol station to fill up her tank.

Zellweger chose to wear a blue long-sleeved blue shirt and grey utility trousers for the quick errand run.

It is the first time Zellweger has been seen in public since becoming shrouded in rumours she got engaged on the quiet.

The couple are said to be keeping their plans incredibly private, even for their purported wedding.

A pal reportedly said: “They’re not planning a big public announcement.”

According to The Sun, a friend of the couple’s said Zellweger has been “telling her inner circle” about their “low-key” wedding plans.

“Her relationship with Ant is super strong and they’re madly in love, and they can’t wait to get hitched,” added the pal.
