Brooklyn Beckham was left with tears streaming down his face as he tried a new online challenge that some warn is ‘dangerous’.

The 23-year-old son of David and Victoria Beckham has carved out an impressive social media following of his own as he dabbles in cooking and shares updates on his life with wife Nicola Peltz.

Having previously gone viral for showcasing his cooking skills with a pizza that left fans – especially those of Italian descent – unimpressed, Brooklyn has now tried his hand at a new challenge: eating an insanely hot potato chip.

A so-called ‘one chip challenge’ has seen crisp makers Paqui urge people to eat a single chip and ‘wait as long as possible before drinking or eating anything,’ and film their reactions.

The chip in question is seasoned with the world’s hottest chilli pepper the Carolina Reaper, and is not for the faint-hearted, with Paqui’s website warning that people with allergies, medical issues or who are pregnant should not eat them.

It also advises customers to keep the chips out of reach of children, and to seek medical assistance if eating them causes nausea, fainting, or difficulty breathing.

Despite this, the challenge has been making the rounds on social media, with Brooklyn now among those recording their reaction after eating the tortilla chip.

While the rules state you should wait as long as possible without drinking anything after eating the chip, Brooklyn played it safe with a glass of milk – but it didn’t seem to help too much as he became visibly choked up.

In the video – aptly set to Nelly’s Hot In Here – Brooklyn devours the chip and immediately begins blowing air out of his mouth and taking a long drink of milk.

He then laughs as tears begin streaming down his face, and begins eating balled-up pieces of plain white bread to help combat the spice.

Brooklyn proudly posted the video to Instagram with the simple caption: ‘Did it x.’

The challenge has proved massive on TikTok, where videos of people eating the Paqui chip have been viewed hundreds of millions of times.

However there are claims that the challenge is prompting hospitalisations, with Insider reporting at least three high schoolers in California were referred to the ER after eating the Paqui chips.

School principal Adam Auerbach told the outlet: ‘Each student who has taken part has had a similar reaction, struggling to breathe and catch their breath.

‘We have also had students vomiting on themselves.’

The school had sent a message to parents warning them of the challenge and stated that anyone found with the chips would be sent home.
