Cheryl’s business account reveals it’s £1.35million in the red – as singer hints at a Girls Aloud comeback by launching a new company with her former bandmates

Cheryl Tweedy’s business account is understood to be in the red for the second consecutive year – despite the singer suggesting a comeback could be on the cards after launching a new company with her former Girls Aloud bandmates. 

Recently published accounts for CC Entertainment, the London-based company set up by Cheryl in 2009, is in arrears to the tune of £1.35million, despite her recent resurgence on the West End stage.

It’s a marginal decrease on figures filed the previous year, which showed the company was £1.46million in the red. 

While Cheryl, 40, is a household name thanks to the huge success of Girls Aloud and a regular TV role on The X Factor, where she served as a judge and mentor, the singer’s pop career has tapered off over recent years. 

Her last single, Let You, reached number 57 on the UK chart following its release in 2019, while her last album, Only Human, was released almost a decade ago, in 2014.

She has since chosen an alternate career path on the London stage, with the star winning plaudits – and earning a reported £1,000 a night – for her three month stint in 2:22 A Ghost Story. 

The singer previously played herself in Hollywood movie What To Expect When You’re Expecting and had a small role as a cutthroat music agent in 2020 film Four Kids And It. 

She also featured as a judge on BBC show The Greatest Dancer in 2019 – with the show axed in 2020 after two series 

But she recently hinted at a pop comeback by launching a new company with former Girls Aloud bandmates Kimberley Walsh, Nicola Adams and Nadine Coyle. 

Let’s Go Eskimo – named after a lyric in Girls Aloud hit Love Machine – was launched in September to handle any financial earnings made by the band, who split up in 2013. 

The move has prompted speculation regarding a potential comeback for the girls, who reunited last October for a performance at a charity ball for former bandmate Sarah Harding. 

Harding passed away aged 39 in 2021 after battling breast cancer, with the band later organising The Primrose Ball to raise money for the Christie NHS Foundation Trust and Cancer Research UK, as part of the Sarah Harding Breast Cancer Appeal. 

Discussing Harding’s tragic death at the event on October 8 2022, Cheryl said: ‘To be honest, I’ve never experienced or anticipated this grief.

Reunited: Girls Aloud came together last year to honour Sarah Harding at The Primrose Ball, but Cheryl revealed there were no plans for the band to reunite for a tour 

‘You know, I’ve lost grandparents and a friend when I was younger but nothing like this. The feeling of shock and disbelief and it still lingers now. 

‘You feel so helpless, you’ve never felt hopelessness like it, it’s horrendous. So the fact that Sarah had one request that we can fulfil is great for us because it just feels like we’re doing something.’ 

She added: ‘We felt like there was nothing we could do for so long.’ 

Speaking exclusively to MailOnline in January, Cheryl revealed that the loss ensured that she doesn’t take any days for granted and that it brought her ‘closer’ to Nicola Roberts, Nadine Coyle and Kimberley Walsh. 

She explained: ‘A lot of conversations we had before she left really sparked a different perspective for me, and I’ll carry that. 

‘She wasn’t ready to leave and I think, “well I’m still here”. I’ve got the gift of life to still live, and I’ll do it with her in mind. It does shift a lot of things in your own heart.’

Detailing how Sarah’s death brought her closer to her bandmates, she continued: ‘With the loss and our age we just appreciate and love each other so much more.

‘We always have loved each other, obviously. But it’s just a different, there’s a different depth to it all now.’

The girls were back out in public in September when they attended the London wedding of celebrity publicist Simon Jones.
