Chris Evans takes savage swipe at Strictly 2023 contestants with Instagram dig

Chris Evans reveals he was asked to do Celebrity Gogglebox

Chris Evans has taken a swipe at this year’s crop of Strictly Come Dancing celebrities.

The 57-year-old was speaking to judge Anton Du Beke on his Virgin Breakfast Show when he made the dig at the contestants.

The radio host suggested this year’s line-up are making more mistakes than usual as a result of them “spending too much time on Instagram”.

When asked about Strictly, Anton, 57, said: “I think it’s a great year, it’s an interesting year because you’re getting different leaders at the top of the leaderboard every week.

“People are having good weeks and bad weeks, people are making mistakes this year, more often than they were in the past, as I sort of remember, which sort of makes it more volatile, exciting.”

Chris responded by asking: “Is that because they’re spending too much time on Instagram, do you think?”

Anton expressed: “I think that and they’ve all been reading my new book,” before the pair laughed it off.

The television personality proved he meant the comment in good humour as he told Anton to give everyone at Strictly his well wishes.

Chris’ comment comes after he previously gave a health update that he is clear of skin cancer, just eight weeks after he was diagnosed.

He had told listeners of his Virgin Radio UK Breakfast Show in August that he had been diagnosed with the early stages of skin cancer and that he had caught it quickly, meaning it was “as treatable as cancer can possibly be”.

The presenter shared that he had received an email about the cancer that was removed from his leg.

Sharing the email on his behalf live on-air, his co-presenter read: “I have forwarded the pathology report. It is excellent news.

“There is no residual disease. You have the all-clear.”

Chris went on to urge his listeners to get checked if they have cancer symptoms and told them not to worry because he was able to get the all-clear two months after being diagnosed.
