Too soon? Dakota Johnson reportedly stunned a room full of industry bigwigs at Sundance on Thursday (Jan. 19) when she used Armie Hammer’s alleged cannibalism fetish as joke fodder. Tasked with presenting the film festival’s international icon award to director Luca Guadagnino at the “Taste of Sundance” dinner, Dakota referenced a much buzzed-about scene involving a peach from Luca’s coming-of-age romance, “Call Me By Your Name, which starred Timothee Chalamet as a teen named Elio who’s pining for Armie Hammer’s character, Oliver. At one point, Elio “makes loves to” a peach, leaving evidence of his actions behind. Oliver then finds said evidence in the fruit and, well, you can probably do the math … “It was unfortunate,” Dakota said while presenting the award to Luca. “Luca had asked me to play the role of the peach, but our schedules conflicted. Thank God, though, because then I would have been another woman that Armie Hammer had tried to eat.” She was referring to allegations made against Armie in 2021 that he had a cannibalism fetish. (He was also accused of sexual assault and violence.) According to Variety, the audience responded to Dakota’s quip with a mix of gasps, laughter and applause.

David Crosby tweeted about heaven shortly before death
In his final days, David Crosby tweeted about topics ranging from Greta Thunberg’s recent arrest (“she is brave … nothing less”) to his No. 1 Beatles song (“Rigby”) to congressional Republicans Lauren Boebert, Matt Gaetz and Marjorie Taylor Greene (“rampant self interest,” he captioned a photo of the three). But in the wake of the music icon’s death at 81, it was his quip about heaven — apparently posted hours before he passed away — that stood out to fans and followers.
Responding to a Google search on whether folks with tattoos can “go to heaven” on Wednesday (Jan. 18), David cracked, “I heard the place is overrated….cloudy.” His wife Jan confirmed his death the next day, citing his “long illness” and sparking a wave of tribute-focused replies to his lighthearted comment on the afterlife. “I hope you enjoy it nonetheless, David,” one fan wrote alongside a broken heart emoji. “Will so miss your presence and bon mots on Twitter,” another chimed in.
The two-time Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee — he was inducted with the Byrds and Crosby, Stills & Nash, both of which he co-founded — died on Wednesday, his sister-in-law Patricia Dance told the New York Times. He’d battled illnesses including diabetes and hepatitis C for years and previously suffered multiple heart attacks, according to NPR.
“Although he is no longer here with us, his humanity and kind soul will continue to guide and inspire us,” his wife said in a statement, in part. “His legacy will continue to live on through his legendary music. Peace, love, and harmony to all who knew David and those he touched.”

Alec Baldwin to continue production on ‘Rust’ amid criminal charges: Report
As Alec Baldwin prepares to be charged with involuntary manslaughter in the fatal “Rust” set shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, the actor remains “on track” to finish production on the film, a source told the New York Times this week. New Mexico District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies announced Thursday (Jan. 19) that she’ll file criminal charges against Alec, who was holding the gun that killed Halyna and injured director Joel Souza in 2021 as they rehearsed a scene.
“A person with knowledge of the project … said that as of Thursday, the movie was still on track to be completed with Mr. Baldwin in the lead role and Joel Souza, who was wounded in the shooting, returning as director,” the Times reported Thursday, noting that “on-set safety supervisors” will be on hand during filming and “live ammunition, including blanks,” will be banned from the set. Plans to restart production on “Rust” were announced last year as part of the settlement of a lawsuit brought by Halyna’s husband, Matthew Hutchins, against Alec and the film’s other producers. As part of the settlement, Matthew was to come on board as an executive producer, with production slated to begin this month.
The D.A. also intends to file involuntary manslaughter charges against Hannah Gutierrez Reed, the movie’s armorer; former first assistant director Dave Halls took a plea deal “on a charge of negligent use of a deadly weapon,” the D.A. said.

Gabrielle Union responds to backlash over cheating comments
Gabrielle Union isn’t sweating the backlash over her comments about feeling “entitled” to cheat on her ex-husband, Chris Howard. In fact, she thinks anyone who’s angry about her remarks might want to take a better look at everything she said. “If you’re gonna get your panties in a twist about something I’ve been talking about since 2005 — in not one but two New York Times best-selling books — at least listen to the whole thing,” Gabrielle recently told ET. The actress reportedly rolled her eyes and added, “Just so you know where your anger actually is.”
The comments came during an appearance on Dax Shepard’s “Armchair Expert” podcast, where she recalled having cheated in part because she was “paying all the bills” for the couple at the time and felt somewhat “entitled” to do so. Rehashes of her interview focused on the entitlement, but as she reminded ET, that was only part of the story. Chris allegedly cheated on Gabrielle, to. “Neither one of us felt like the marriage should get in the way of our dating,” she told Dax on his show. “A part of it was like keeping up with his activities, like, ‘Oh, that’s what you’re doing? You’re going to feel this one.’ And I just felt entitled to it as well.”
Speaking to ET, she joked, “I think people really felt anger that a woman would dare be just as dysfunctional as a man … because that’s what I called it! And stupid!”

Cher previously shared a photo of the huge diamond ring on Twitter on Christmas Day, telling followers it was a gift. If the two are engaged, however, neither has spilled the tea. “I have had a couple boyfriends that were hovering around my age, but they just didn’t like me for some reason,” Cher said last month on “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” while discussing her relationship’s age difference (per People). “And maybe younger men don’t care if you’re funny or outrageous and want to do stupid things, and you have the strong personality. Lisa Marie Presley’s eldest child, actress Riley Keough shared a mother-daughter photo on Instagram this week, marking her first public comment on her mom’s death earlier this month. The sweet black and white image showed Riley as a little girl in her mother’s arms. Her plot is next to that of her son, Benjamin Keough, who died by suicide at 27 in 2020, and across from Elvis’ final resting place.
