Olympian Dame Laura Kenny has revealed she has given birth to her second son with an adorable social media upload following the heartbreak of her miscarriage and ectopic pregnancy.
The 31-year-old and her husband Sir Jason Kenny, 35, welcomed a baby boy named Montgomery on 20 July, with the cyclist taking to Instagram to announce the happy news on Saturday night.
Dame Laura shared the sweet snap, which sees Montgomery – who will be given the nickname Monty for short – and the couple's five-year-old son Albie lying on their fronts with their names embroidered on the back of their blue jumpers, with her 198,000 Instagram followers.
She wrote alongside the upload: "Welcome to the world Montgomery George Kenny. Born 20/07/2023 Weighing 9,0lbs at 7.59pm," alongside a blue heart and a rainbow emoji.
The couple's sporting pals were quick to flood the comments section with messages of support, with Mark Cavendish writing: "Beautiful! Congrats guys!"
Jessica Ennis Hill added: "Aww congratulations guys," while Chris Hoy's wife Sarra wrote: "Huge magnificent congratulations to You and Jason.
"This is the news I’ve been waiting for and I’m thrilled for you. I hope you are recovering and loving having your boys at home with you."
Dame Laura exclusively announced her pregnancy with OK! back in January after suffering a heartbreaking miscarriage in November 2021 and ectopic pregnancy in January 2022.
At the time, Dame Laura said on Instagram: "A year ago today I was sat in A&E knowing I was really poorly but not knowing what was wrong with me.
"When I got the news I was having an ectopic pregnancy my world felt like it crumbled. We had already lost our second baby in November and I remember lying there searching for some sort of answers.
"I still feel this heartbreak today and I don't think it will ever go away. But today a year on…"
She then guided fans to a new post, where a photo of four bikes could be seen propped up against a fence covered in snow. In the caption, she simply put a white heart emoji and a rainbow emoji, indicating she was pregnant.
Dame Laura candidly added: "I'm scared every single day that I might have to go through the pain of loosing another baby. It makes you feel ungrateful for something you've so desperately wanted for the last year.
"But I also know there are going to be so may people, like I was, seeing my post and wishing I would go away with my happy ending.
"But I also know when I was lying in the hospital bed I was searching for people's happy endings because it was the only thing giving me any comfort at the time. That maybe, just maybe I would get my happy ending."
