David Beckham has revealed all – like weight-training with his wife Victoria, the perils of ageing and his love of Lego – ahead of his new Netflix documentary.
Beckham, now 48, said they are keeping fit by exercising together every morning. ‘We mostly do weights now. I don’t do a huge amount of running any more, even though I like it,’ he told The Telegraph.
He added that he was benefiting more from the weight training than running now, ‘funnily enough’.
Nearing 50, Beckham said certain parts of aging ‘aren’t great’, like his body aching after getting up in the morning, but it doesn’t bother him.
He actually agreed that he was ‘ageing gracefully’ and seemed to embrace what comes with it: ‘Since I’ve finished my career, my back’s been sore, my hip’s been sore, my achilles aches… But you know, that’s part of it. But going grey, going bald? I don’t care.’

Beckham, always looking forward, takes the same attitude when it comes to raking in his famous football successes – instead, he is always focused on what’s next, something he said he learned from his Manchester United coach Sir Alex Ferguson.
He said he never looks back with any regrets – not even his controversial ambassadorship for the World Cup last year in Qatar, for which he reportedly gets paid $150million over the next decade.

He was accused of trading in ethics for money after he took on the well-imbursed role due to Qatar’s stance on LGBTQ+ rights – the country considers same-sex illegal – and its human rights transgressions, including claims of mistreatment of the migrant workers building the World Cup stadiums.
Beckham had previously presented himself as an ally to the LGBTQ+ community and even featured on the cover of Attitude magazine, a gay lifestyle magazine.
Despite the public outrage, he entered into the deal with Qatar, saying he doesn’t want to exclude people and instead give them the opportunity to engage, as otherwise the ‘world doesn’t change’.
Other than football, two of Beckham’s many passions are building adult Lego and beekeeping, where he proudly tends to his 18 beehives on his Cotswolds property.
The keen cook – whose son Brooklyn followed into his footsteps as an amateur cook sharing videos of his recipes on social media – feels his perfect weekend consists of throwing a good chop of meat or some fish on the grill and enjoy a glass of wine with his wife.
After 24 years of marriage, Beckham said the key to a successful marriage was working hard on the relationship and making time for each other.
Beckham previously said about choosing each other in his autobiography: ‘My wife picked me out of a soccer sticker book. And I chose her off the telly.’

Beckham, who confirmed he probably has more than 100 tattoos adorning his body, recently added a couple more to the canvas while he was in LA for football team Inter Miami, which he co-founded in 2018 and co-owns.

Among the new additions were a tribute to his passionate business venture Miami and the word ‘Posh’ – after Victoria, who was called Posh Spice during her popstar days – on his left hand and some lions for his work-in-progress St George tattoo on his left thigh.
He was inspired to get the latter after his son Cruz got the same word tattooed on his arm.
Beckham also recently shaved his hair off after being ‘bored’ of his hair style, and now wears it in a buzzcut again – sporting the same hairdo he had during his legendary free kick goal against Greece in 2001, which catapulted England into the World Cup the following year.
His new hair cut reveals more tattoos: a model of the solar system on the side of his skull, a rose – another tribute to Victoria – and flock of birds.

David and Victoria recently watched the four-part show together ahead of the release on October 4 and said it hit them how much they did in their lives.
After being together for 26 years, their love for each other seemingly still translates on screen, as Beckham agrees they are ‘really cute together’.

He seems always on the go and said after ending his career professional footballer in 2013, he knew he needed something else to keep him busy, so he co-founded Miami a few years later.

Despite his impressive career, people sometimes seem to forget he was actually one of the best players of his time, considered up there with Zidane, Figo and Ronaldo.
On a podcast with Match of the Day’s Gary Lineker, Alan Shearer and Micah Richards, the hosts were discussing which England player from a different generation they would have loved to have played with – and Lineker said Beckham.
While Beckham said he would never boast about his football accomplishments, he does they sometimes ‘get overlooked’ – therefore the validation by Lineker must have been satisfying.
One of the defining moments in his football career was the red card he got against Argentina in the last 16 round of the 1998 World Cup.
England’s manager at the time, Glenn Hoddle, seemed to blame Beckham for the loss and in the Netflix documentary – which Hoddle was the only one to refuse an interview for – Victoria refuses to call Hoddle ‘a man’, while Beckham’s mother Sandra remained disgusted by Hoddle.
After the game, Beckham quickly became the most hated man in England, with the Daily Mirror even printing a cut-out-and-keep dartboard with his face on it.
On the show, Victoria reveals that her husband was actually suffering from depression at the time. Beckham said he never went to therapy for this and said if he’d told his father Ted he would have questioned him about it – instead he put his ‘head down and worked harder’.

When it comes to his success, Beckham himself sometimes wonders ‘how on earth it happened’. His fame hasn’t faltered after his professional career ended, though.
On Instagram, he has an impressive 83 million followers, which leaves only Dua Lipa with more in Britain.
Even among the famous footballers, only Cristiano Ronaldo, Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar have more followers.
He has proven time and time again how resilient he is after his critics attacked his career, marriage and business ventures over the years, but ‘stubborn’ Beckham said he liked to ‘prove people wrong, without being cocky about it’.
His work ethic was passed down from his parents, who kept on working – his mother Sandra as a hairdresser and his father Ted as a fitter – even after Beckham raked in his first millions.
He seems to follow their example with Inter Miami, which he plans to build up to a sustainable business in the long-term to pass it on to his children.
But whatever happens next might never make the screens in another documentary, as Beckham said the soon-to-be-released Netflix show is the only one he intends to make, adding that his grandchildren could maybe tell the story for him.
