Eamonn Holmes shares heartbreak as he relies on mobility scooter during day out

GB News: Eamonn Holmes discusses his health

Eamonn Holmes had to rely on a mobility scooter as he enjoyed a day out at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

The GB News presenter took to Instagram on Friday and uploaded a photo, as he enjoyed the sunshine as well as ice cream, while he was sat in a mobility scooter and has since been inundated with messages of support.

Eamonn looked to be in good spirits despite his ongoing struggles with chronic pain.

In view of his 801,000 followers he captioned the photo: “Gorgeous Day for a Poke… and just look at Cars at Goodwood.”

Fans reacted to the post, as one person quizzed: “Eamonn on a mobility Scooter.”

In a heartbreaking health update, Eamonn replied: “Wish I wasn’t but I couldn’t have had my day out without one.”

Others reacted to his response as many social media users offered their well wishes to the former This Morning broadcaster.

A second person remarked: “Get better soon Eamonn,” while another wrote: “There’s no shame in pain.”

A fourth wrote: “Hope you had a good day! Sometimes its the mental toll of surgery and ill health that is the hardest challenge.”

Another urged: “I hope you’re treatment helped you.”

The post comes just a day after the broadcaster revealed he was having his back stretched in a bid to combat the agonising pain.

Eamonn had straps holding down his shoulders and one around his head, which he joked resembled a retro sweat band.

He captioned the snap: “I look like an 80’s Disco dancer… but actually on a rack having my neck and back stretched. Spine decompression.

While wife Ruth Langford wrote: “Ouch! I like the 80’s vibe though!”

Eamonn has since shared he has not fully recovered from his spinal surgery, confessing: “I can’t run, I can’t walk, I can’t do anything except watch TV and eat.”

He added on GB News: “I just got problems last year in my back, which I haven’t recovered from. It’s not good, it’s not a good recipe I have to say.”

The star first started experiencing severe back pain, which came out of nowhere, and left him reliant on a walking stick in 2021. He eventually discovered it was three slipped discs that affected the movement of his right leg.
