EastEnders’ Dean Gaffney comforted by soap star pals after his mum’s funeral

Soap friends of former EastEnders star Dean Gaffney have all rallied around him for support following his mum's funeral yesterday.

The star, who left the soap in 2019, revealed his mum sadly passed away last month and penned an emotional tribute to her at the time that spoke about the tragic loss of his "beautiful" mother.

Dean, 45, confirmed he was the one to have "found her sleeping" and was "simply broken" at the time.

Now, the dad-of-two has shared a photo of her funeral booklet with social media fans and explain how much he misses her.

The star wrote: ""Gone but NEVER forgotten… Sunrise: 23/12/53. Sunset: 13/08/23.

"I miss and love you Mum, today, tomorrow and forever. X."

Dean's supportive friends were quick to rush to the comments section to give their best wishes and comfort on Instagram.

Joe Swash, who was close friends with Dean on EastEnders, sent his love: "Dean, all our thoughts and prayers are with you mate. Me and Stacey [Solomon] and the kids are thinking of you. Please come over for dinner."

EastEnders' Richard Blackwood, who played Vincent Hubbard on the soap, said, "Sending Condolences my bro."

While, ex-Coronation Street star Kym Marsh commented, "Sending lots of love xxx."

It's clear to see how highly Dean is thought of in soap-land as the support came flooding in from many stars across prime-time shows, including Andy Whyment, known for his character Kirk Sutherland on Corrie.

He wrote, "Sending lots of love mate x," with Helen Flanagan adding, "Sending so much love Dean."

Hollyoaks' Stephanie Waring commented a heart emoji and Emmerdale's Danny Miller typed, "All the love brother."

Dean, sadly, was the one to find his mum when she passed away and confirmed the news on Instagram: "I was, am and always will be a mummy's boy so this news has completely floored me. I spoke to her every day and in some ways I'm glad I'm the one that found her asleep.

"I will retain all the amazing memories that we shared and whilst I understand the circle of life means everyone will feel this pain at some point in their lives, life can be very cruel at times, 69 is no age.

"To know I will never be able to physically see or speak to her ever again is beyond any pain I've ever experienced in my life."
