Eastenders' Cheryl Fergison, known for playing Heather Trott on the long-running show, has shown off a glam new look with a series of snaps posted to Instagram.

The 56 year old actress was attending a 1940s weekend, and she looked the part in a flower printed midi-dress with simple black shoes and a black handbag, with a bandana knotted into her brown hair.

Her make-up also fit the bill as she rocked rouge cheeks and a bold pinky-red lipstick as she beamed for a selfie, captioning the post: "Lytham 1940’s weekend … fun in the sun."

Her followers were quick to lavish praise on the star, with one person commenting: "Love the 1940's look on you Cheryl," whilst another wrote: "Gorgeous photo of you xx"

Someone else commented: "You look lovely Cheryl you really suit that look," and a fourth said: "Looking stunning Cheryl x".

In another snap, she cuddled up to a man she called her "bestie" who donned a silk neck scarf and a wig, as she wrote: “Life can be a “drag” when you are with your bestie Graeme Urlwin, Lytham 1940 weekend,” with a rainbow, heart, and kissing face emojis at the end.

One person commented: "Love this one , looks like you both had a fabulous time ."

In yet another picture she posted, Cheryl posed with her family, including aunties, uncles and cousins, who were all dressed in 1940s-style outfits for the occasion, as she called it "a family thing".

Cheryl played the unassuming Heather, best friend of Shirley Carter (Linda Henry) on Eastenders from 2007 to 2012, before her character got murdered by Ben Mitchell (played by Joshua Pascoe).

Earlier this year she slammed the BBC soap for being "out of touch" and branded her character's exit from the show "a bit harsh".

Speaking to The Mirror, she said that she "wasn't surprised" that the soap got its lowest ever ratings last Autumn – 1.7m, compared to around 7m when she left.

She then said: "They need to bring it back down to earth a bit,"

"When the sensational stuff becomes like a movie, it becomes a bit like a blur.

"Arthur stealing the money, Den and Angie’s divorce papers, those were the hearts and lives of real people. The producers need to go out and talk to people. If you wanted explosions, you'd watch Fast and Furious."
