A former EastEnders star has reportedly been arrested on suspicion of an alleged "large-scale" fraud.
The actress, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, is said to be the subject of an investigation by the police's specialist anti-organised crime department.
The Sun has reported that the suspect in question was held during the early hours of Friday morning after a raid in East London.
She was then taken into custody at Gravesend Police Station, Kent, where she was questioned before being released later that day.
Police are said to have removed documents and electronic devices from the home of the actress.
Although the exact details regarding the alleged fraud are unknown it has been reported that officers from the Eastern Region Special Operations Unit, also known as Ersou, are investigating.
Ersou is just one of 10 police regional organised crime units in England and Wales which tackle serious criminality and terrorism.
The actress has reportedly appeared on British television for three decades and played a main character in the BBC One soap, according to The Sun.
A source told the publication that the early morning raid would have taken the actress "completely by surprise".
They said: "It was an early-morning raid. She would have been taken completely by surprise."
Gravesend Police Station has been contacted for comment.
