Emma Stone Responds to Being booed at Padres-Mets Game With Instantly Classic Reaction

No one is going to convince Emma Stone not to show her team spirit — not even a stadium full of passionate Mets fans. On Friday, Stone and her husband, Dave McCary, were spotted at New York City’s Citi Field on Friday for Game 1 of the Wild Card series between the San Diego Padres and New York Mets. Despite being firmly in Mets territory, the couple didn’t let that stop them from showing off their Padre pride.

During the game, Stone and McCary appeared on the Jumbotron where the entire stadium saw them sporting their Padre bomber jackets. In a video shared by ESPN on Instagram, the couple’s attire was met with loud boos from the many Mets fans in attendance at the game. However, they seemed completely unbothered. In fact, the Oscar winner and her husband toasted the crowd.

While the Mets fans might not have been amused, Padres CEO Erik Greupner loved the moment. “Style, grace and good taste…Emma is always welcome @PetcoPark,” he tweeted alongside a photo of Stone showing off her bomber jacket. The team’s official Twitter account shared the same shot, alongside a photo of the actor and McCary at the game. “Big fans of these fans,” the Padres tweeted. “Hi Dave and Emma! 👋”

For the most part, Stone keeps her private life out of the spotlight, but the social media-averse star always seems to make an exception for her beloved Padres. In 2021, she and McCary joined announcers Mark Grant and Don Orsillo in the booth during a San Diego Padres game against the Los Angeles Dodgers. “Great to meet Academy Award winning Best Actress Emma Stone and her husband Dave McCary from Saturday Night Live,” Orsillo tweeted alongside a photo he snapped with the couple.
