VDC filed suit on Monday morning (August 7) seeking $100 million in damages, after MrBeast has allegedly failed to meet to contractual obligations and attempted to make a new deal “to serve his own monetary interests” and “give up more of the brand to him to terminate his “existing contractual obligations without cause.”
“This case is about a social media celebrity who believes his fame means that his word does not matter, that the facts do not matter, and that he can renege and breach his contractual obligations without consequence,” the lawsuit says. “He is mistaken.”
According to the lawsuit, they report that Jimmy Donaldson, aka MrBeast, has caused the reputation of MrBeast Burger and VDC’s reputation, it has turned away customers and caused relationships with restaurants and other vendors to be ruined, impacting hundreds of restaurants across the world.
If you missed it, Jimmy and his MrBeast Investments filed suit against VDC in an effort to get out of their partnership and terminate their contract. The YouTube star has no interest in continuing MrBeast Burger, and has even stated on Twitter that he has more of a passion for his Feastables.
MrBeast Burger has come under fire for delivering “revolting” food among others, and some have stated it’s the “worst burger [they] ever had.”
MrBeast himself has also commented on the quality, saying he can’t guarantee the quality of what’s being delivered, as they come out of “ghost restaurants” and it’s up to them to deliver on what’s being promised.
In the lawsuit against Jimmy, it states, “Donaldson’s baseless and unlawful disparagement had the intended effect: MrBeast Burger’s reputation was materially damaged if not destroyed, customers abandoned the Brand, Plaintiffs’ hard-won relationships with vendors, partners, and suppliers were shattered, causing damages to Plaintiffs that, according to the evidence and Donaldson’s own statements regarding the value of MrBeast Burger, are in the nine-figure range.”
