Anita Rani, 44, was on Strictly Come Dancing for the show’s fifteenth series alongside Gleb Savchenko, 39. Although the pair reached the semi-final, Gleb has spoken out in a recent interview about how “stressed out” he was throughout the whole experience.

Hardest thing!

Gleb joined the hit BBC show as a professional partner in 2015 and was paired with Countryfile’s Anita.

The couple reached the semi-finals and finished in fifth place, with Gleb announcing the following year that he would not be returning to Strictly.

He is currently a professional dancer on the US version, Dancing With the Stars but admitted in a recent interview the long-lasting impact Strictly had on him.

In an interview with Onlinecasino.ca Gleb recalled: “I remember when I danced with Anita Rani, I was stressed out every single week.

“This is the hardest thing, you know when you’ve been given the music and you try to come up with a creative and an idea.

“You do have this on Dancing With the Stars and on Strictly as well, teams helping you out with music choices and creative stuff but with the choreography, you have to come up with everything yourself and you want to do something that will push your celebrity, not break her back or something like that.”

He then said that freedom was not always a good thing as being a professional dancer you always want to “push yourselves”.

Gleb continued: “But at the same time you don’t want to be like ‘oh okay, whatever, step to the side, tap, step to the side, tap’.

“You want to always push yourselves. So when I did Strictly I was stressed out with Anita all the time and if you asked her she would be like ‘listen, we worked super hard but we did not have a lot of fun’.”

Gleb also set the record straight on why he left Strictly Come Dancing after only being on one series.

He revealed: “I left Strictly because my daughter was going to go to school and we kind of had a base in LA so it was more convenient I guess to do that.”

Gleb is not the only one to have spoken out about their partnership on the show, with Anita coming out last year on why she thought she didn’t make the final.

Anita told the Radio Times that there were moments throughout her career where she suspects things could have taken a different direction if she was “blonde-haired and blue-eyed”.

She shared: “I still find myself wondering whether I would have got into the final if I didn’t have a brown face.

“There are various points in my career where I wonder what would have happened if I was blonde-haired and blue-eyed, and sometimes I don’t think things would have played out the same way if I was white.

“I’ve put that Strictly question into my book to leave people pondering, because I’m just not sure.”

However, Anita previously called 2015 her “magic year” due to her success on the dance show and her appearance on Who Do You Think You Are?

She told the Metro: “It took me to a whole new level.

“And now I’m in this position as pretty much the only Asian woman making the sorts of programmes that I do in a wonderful landscape of female presenters, but the only brown one there, and I’m owning it.”
