Top Gear presenter Freddie Flintoff was airlifted to hospital after crashing during filming for the show on Tuesday. The 45-year-old’s son Corey Flintoff, 16, has now said his dad is “lucky to be alive” after the accident.
Corey said his family have been left “shocked” after his dad was taken to hospital.
According to a source, his injuries are not life-threatening but he is under medical care.
In an update, his son told the Mail Online: “He’s OK. I’m not too sure what happened but he is lucky to be alive.
“It was a pretty nasty crash. It is shocking. We are all shocked but just hope he’s going to be OK.”
Corey is one of Freddie’s four children with his wife Rachael Wools.
The couple, who married in 2005, also share; Holly, 18, Rocky, 14 and two-year-old Preston.
His wife is said to have been at his hospital bedside following the incident.
It is understood that the crash did not happen at high speed.
A BBC spokesperson said: “Freddie was injured in an accident at the Top Gear test track this morning – with crew medics attending the scene immediately.
“He has been taken to hospital for further treatment and we will confirm more details in due course.”
Sources also told The Sun: “All the usual health and safety measures were in place for filming too.
“Freddie was taken to hospital by air ambulance shortly afterwards.

“Filming has been postponed for now and all anyone cares about is Freddie recovering.”
It’s not the first time the ex cricketer has had an accident since joining the show in 2019.
In February that year, he crashed into a market stall in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire.
Later on, he crashed while filming at Elvington Airfield in Yorkshire, but walked away unharmed.
At the time, he said: “I go to great lengths to make sure I do well in Top Gear drag races but, on this occasion, I went a few lengths too far.
“It will look more ridiculous than dangerous when you see it on TV.”
Freddie fronts the show alongside Paddy McGuinness and Chris Harris.
Many have flocked to social media to send him well wishes following the news including Piers Morgan.
The 57-year-old wrote: “Freddie Flintoff’s crash while filming Top Gear sounds very nasty. Hope the great man is OK.”
