Prince George’s gesture to his brother, Prince Louis, during the Royal Christmas celebrations is reminiscent of Prince Harry and Prince William’s early relationship, according to an expert.
Christmas Day saw the members of The Firm step out for the annual church service at St Mary Magdalene in Sandringham, Norfolk.
King Charles, who also gave his first Christmas speech following the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth, in September, was joined by Prince William, Kate Middleton and their kids, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
One notable moment came when Prince George, nine, placed his hand on his younger brother’s back, which body language expert Judi James described as the “sweetest and most poignant” moment.
Speaking to The Mirror, Judi explained: "One of the sweetest and most poignant body language signals was the sight of George using touch, chat, and bending rituals to signal he is now in the role of protector and 'keeping-an-eye-on' monitor for his younger brother Louis.
"As the family reached the church, William put a hand out to touch George's back and leaned towards his elder son but George was already using those same rituals towards his small and rather playful brother.”
Judi continued to explain that the shot mirrored similar images shown in Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s explosive Netflix docuseries, Harry & Meghan, of the brothers when they were younger.
"The links can't have been lost on William,” she added.
Things don’t seem to be looking up for the royal brothers following the release of the Netflix documentary and the imminent launch of Harry’s memoir, Spare.
As predicted by many, the new monarch left his youngest son and his wife out of his first Christmas speech.
It is, however, important to note that bar a small reference to the Prince and Princess of Wales, the King did not mention any of his immediate family and instead chose to focus on the overall spirit of Christmas and remembering his late mother.
Speaking to GB News, former royal butler Grant Harrold said it was “probably best” not to mention the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
He explained: “I think the reality is that for the King, he obviously talked about the Prince and Princess of Wales and their recent visit to Wales, which was a significant moment for the Royal Family.
“I think with everything that's gone on recently, it was probably best not to mention Harry and Meghan.
"They're not working into the Royal Family so there isn't any real reason to mention them as such, because they haven't done anything of significance as working members of the Royal Family.
"So, it probably made sense not to mention them, to be honest."
