Gogglebox star reveals his mum is helping him find ‘the one’ on dating app

Gogglebox star Joe Baggs shared that his search for 'the one' is being helped by none other than his mother, Lisa.

Lisa has taken on the role of a matchmaker by using a new family-approved dating app called Badoo, which has a feature which allows your friends and family to tell your potential date their thoughts on you.

Badoo's recently-launched feature allows family or friends to record a clip in which they speak about you, prompts listing family and friend's reviews of you, interests approved by family or friends and finally a badge which shows you've been 'Family-Approved'.

The former Gogglebox turned TikTok star, 25, told Tyla he “struggles to sell [himself] on dating apps.”

And while his mum Lisa, 50, who also appeared on the hit show from 2020 to 2022 along with her husband Terry and two boys Joe and George, 19, can be “quite fiery,” Joe admits she does have “nice things to say about [him]” and after a number of failed relationships he thought why not give it a try.

He added: "There's probably things I wouldn't let you share about me like my dating history. Probably my eating habits."

Chiming in, Lisa said: "And the fact that you portray that you're so clean and tidy but at home, you're bl**dy well not."

Joe only allows his mum to give him a review on the app. He said: "I don't know whether there's anyone else in this family that I would trust. I mean, George would be the worst to Family Approve me."

Lisa added: "I think Dad will just humiliate you. [And] I wouldn't be too nice. You just want to have a laugh and make [other] people laugh."

Lisa has previously slammed the Channel 4 show for “watering her family down” in the clips of her family that were shown on TV. Speaking on her sons YouTube channel Not My Bag, the star said: “We are the sort of people, we just say things and people go 'oh, should I have said that?' There was so much of Gogglebox that they didn't put in of us because we said so much.”

Lisa also spoke out about her husband Terry receiving abuse for not saying as much as the rest of the family. She said: “He said so much but they never put it in. He got more abuse than anyone else. People were like ‘get him out’.”

After two years on the show, the Baggs family issues a joint statement last year announcing their exit from the show.

They stated: “After 3 incredible seasons on Channel 4’s Gogglebox we have taken the decision to leave the show. We have loved every second of being part of the Gogglebox family and it’s truly been the opportunity of a lifetime.

“With lots of exciting opportunities approaching for us all, we just couldn’t commit to filming another series, but are so grateful for the opportunity.

“Thank you for all your support whilst we have been on the show. We hope that you’re as excited as we are for what’s coming next!"
