‘Harry and Meghan have no self awareness – they are doing nothing to bridge gap with royals’

It was recently said that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are "deliberately trying to maintain a disconnect" with members of the Royal Family, with another leading expert agreeing the couple are doing nothing to heal the divide.

The comments come after it emerged that Harry and Meghan are reportedly looking to buy their own home in London to give them a base in Harry's home country. It's been said they want to "purchase a home themselves" instead of asking King Charles for a property on a royal estate.

This latest move would bring the pair closer to home but commentators are unanimous in saying they have no intentions to provide an olive branch after the hurt they've caused.

Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond told OK!, "Whether they are deliberately trying to widen the divide is up for debate. What is certain is that they are doing nothing to bridge the gap."

Jennie continued: "Meghan apparently didn’t have time to come to the UK with Harry for the Wellchild Awards because she had to deal with the children, but then she stayed on after the Invictus Games to visit Eugenie in Portugal.

"And now we see them both jetting off to New York and then – on a private jet, which brings with it questions about their eco-warrior integrity – for a couples holiday to an ultra luxurious Caribbean island.

"Neither Harry nor Meghan seem to have much self awareness, it seems they believe we should do what they say not what they do." Referring to Harry's recent fleeting visit to Texas to watch the Grand Prix, Jennie adds: "Formula One racing is certainly not good for the planet but, once again, Harry was there.

"They both need to take a look at themselves. Perhaps only Eugenie knows if they have any inclination to mend the rift with the rest of the family. For the moment, though, there is absolutely no sign that they intend to do so."

Jennie's comments come as PR expert Kieran Elsby said it's "disappointing" to see Harry and Meghan "further distancing themselves" from The Firm.

He told The Mirror: "While they've voiced their desire for privacy and independence, their actions, such as this potential property purchase, might be interpreted as a deliberate move to maintain a disconnect from the Royal Family."

It recently emerged that Harry is eyeing up the possibility to buying a property in the UK.

A source previously told OK!, “They will soon start looking for a property of their own near London, and Harry is very much leading this. Making use of a small apartment in Kensington Palace from time to time isn’t out of the question, but when it comes to a home in the UK, they will purchase that themselves.”

The couple did maintain their home at Frogmore Cottage on the Windsor Estate until earlier this year when they were officially evicted by King Charles.
