Jane Moore details near-fatal boating accident which nearly cost daughter’s life

Loose Women favourite Jane Moore has opened up on a near-fatal accident which nearly cost her 18-year-old daughter Ellie her life during her gap year abroad.

Speaking on the much-loved ITV daytime panel today, the star was discussing the news that Vernon Kay and his daughter had been partying together in Ibiza, when she revealed her daughter had headed off to the tropical climate of Fiji upon finishing school.

That's when, Jane explains, disaster struck: "I got that call, at least it was her calling, so, I knew she was alive but I got that call, she went 'Hi mum, what's my medical insurance number?'

"And why would you need to know that anyway?!', she'd got in a boat in Fiji to go from island to island. It had capsized, a tourist boat, she'd had to swim for her life, she got onto some uninhabited island but it was surrounded by coral and it's very poisonous."

An emotional Jane continued: "So she ended up in the hospital, all her legs were lacerated because she obviously had to get across it to to get on to dry land."

It was then that fellow panellist Nadia Sawalha attempted to make light of her pal's troublesome story: "You know she's Jane Moore's daughter, 'she swam to an uninhabited island'."

Nadia added, "I don't know what I'd have done but that shows that she's brilliantly brought up, we underestimate them, you prepared her to look after herself," before Jane confirmed, "Everybody was fine, nobody died, everybody got to dry land."
