Jennifer Nettles To Host New Fox Dating Show ‘Farmer Wants A Wife’

Jennifer Nettles is set to host a new dating show, “Farmer Wants A Wife,” on Fox.

The series, which is based on the British version of the show, is produced by Idol and Got Talent’s Fremantle Media, and is set to premiere on March 8 at 9 PM ET.

Deadline says the show will aim to explore whether love will blossom between farmers and city women.

The show will see farmers identifying city women and then introduce them to the farming lifestyle and all the so-called non-glamourous aspects that come with such a lifestyle.

Nettles is a “perfect” choice for a host, as she’s “a multi-talented entertainer who’s a little country, a little big city, and huge on heart and humor, making her the perfect choice for wrangling romance in the heartland,” says Allison Wallach, President of Unscripted Programming at FOX Entertainment.

A previous version of “Farmer Wants a Wife” premiered on the CW in April 2008 but was canceled a couple of months later. The U.K. version premiered on ITV in 2001, and varieties of the show have aired in many other countries, including Australia, Canada, France and several other countries.

The Fremantle-owned format has reportedly aired in 32 countries and resulted in 180 marriages and 410 children.
