After reaching a custody agreement with his estranged wife, Sophie Turner, Joe Jonas shared a cryptic message with his fans on Instagram.
The Jonas Brothers star posted a series of sultry photos in front of an LED mirror with a lipstick-written phrase. The mirror read: "I am at the right place, at the right time, doing the right thing." This message appeared cryptic, leading to speculation about its meaning.
The since-deleted Instagram post was tagged with the location of Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, where Joe had a performance with the Jonas Brothers on Monday night.
While the message could have various interpretations, some fans saw it as a reflection of Joe's feelings about the custody agreement and current phase in his life.
According to court documents filed on 21 September, Sophie alleged Joe had “wrongfully retained” Delphine and Willa’s passports. Joe disputed this allegation, while Sophie filed to take her kids back to their “habitual residence” in the UK. Sophie was born in Northampton and grew up in the leafy town of Chesterton in Warwickshire.
On Tuesday, both Joe and Sophie announced that they had reached an "amicable resolution" regarding the care of their two daughters. The joint statement revealed that the children would spend equal time in the US and the UK, emphasising their commitment to being "great co-parents."
According to court documents, Joe and Sophie are now allowed to travel with their daughters between the UK and the US. The custody agreement has pre-agreed dates set until January 7, 2024. The children will continue to spend time with their mother from October 9 to October 21 before returning to their father's care until November 2.
After news of their separation hit the headlines, Sophie claimed that their marriage of four years deteriorated "very suddenly" after an argument on Aug 15, which happens to be Joe's 34th birthday.
The singer filed for divorce in Miami weeks after the alleged argument while Sophie was in the UK but she says in the new complaint that she first heard about the official divorce "from the media."
On Wednesday, 6 September, both Joe and Sophie shared a joint statement on Instagram confirming the split while saying that it was a "united" decision.
The statement read: "After four wonderful years of marriage, we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage.
"There are many speculative narratives as to why, but truly, this is a united decision, and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children."
Joe met Game of Thrones actress Sophie back in 2016 and they became engaged in 2017. Two years later, they married in a low-key ceremony in Las Vegas before having a much bigger wedding in France attended by friends and family.
