Jurassic Park star Sam Neill reveals he’s being treated for stage-three blood cancer

Jurassic Park star Sam Neill has revealed the news that he his being treated for stage-three blood cancer.

The Guardian quotes the actor as writing: "The thing is, I’m crook. Possibly dying, I may have to speed this up" in the first chapter of his upcoming memoir, Did I Ever Tell You This?

He told the outlet that while one the press tour for Jurassic World Dominion in March 2022 he was diagnosed with angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma.

The 75 year old revealed that he will be on chemotherapy medication for the rest of his life, although he is now cancer-free.

He told the outlet: "I’m not afraid to die, but it would annoy me. Because I’d really like another decade or two, you know?

"We’ve built all these lovely terraces, we’ve got these olive trees and cypresses, and I want to be around to see it all mature. And I’ve got my lovely little grandchildren. I want to see them get big.

"But as for the dying? I couldn’t care less."

Discussion his decision to write a book, Sam revealed that he never had actually had any intention to do so, but as he began to do so it was giving him a reason to love.

He added that as he'd go to bed he'd find himself thinking "I'll write about that tomorrow" and that these thoughts became something of a "lifesaver"

As soon as news broke of the actor's health struggles, fans were quick to share their well-wishes on social media, with one writing: "Prayers up. Sending all my love to God Sam Neill."

"This is so sad… Praying the best for him" added another, while a third wrote: "Sam Neill is one of the best, I hope he can pull through this."

And a fourth simply said: "Utterly devastated by this news. You are in my thoughts @TwoPaddocks"

Sam's first onscreen role was in a a New Zealand television movie The City of No in 1971.

His breakthrough performance was in the film Sleeping Dogs in 1977 and he shot to even further stardom in as Dr Alan Grant in Jurassic Park in 1993.

He as continued to reprise this role in the recent Jurassic Park films starring Chris Pratt, the last of which Jurassic World Dominion released last year.
