Kate Ferdinand has welcomed her second child with husband Rio Ferdinand and their baby daughter's name holds a very special meaning.

The former TOWIE star, 32 and her former footballer husband, 44, took to Instagram on Sunday to share the happy news where they also revealed their baby's name.

Posting a black and white photo of the family's hands piled on top of each other they lovingly wrote the caption: "Shae Ferdinand. 10.7.23. Our strong little girl".

Shae is the couple's second child together as they also have a two year old son called Cree, while Kate is also a step-mum to Rio's three children, 16-year-old Lorenz, 14-year-old Tate and Tia, 11.

The unusual name for their baby daughter means "stately, gift".

It can be used as a boy's or girl's name with Shae being the third most popular spelling of the name after Shea and Shay.

The name is mostly notable for its connection to Game of Thrones as Shae is a "camp follower" in the hugely popular drama series.

The character in the series becomes the loyal mistress to Tyrion Lannister while he is serving as Hand of the King.

Aside from this, the moniker is not often heard and remains fairly low on the popularity list, making it even more unique for the Ferdinand's newest arrival.

The couple announced they were expecting their second child together in January and went on to reveal they were having a baby girl in March.

Kate and Rio first started dating back in January 2017 and went public with their romance in August 2017 during a family holiday to Portugal.

Former TOWIE star Kate later revealed she was quitting showbiz in order to focus on her relationship as well as being a step-mum.

At the time she said: "I'm taking a step back from the public eye, I want to keep my life private as I lived my previous relationship on TOWIE, my priority right now is Rio and the family."

In 2018 the couple got engaged in a romantic proposal with Rio's children present while on holiday in Abu Dhabi.

A year later the couple tied the knot in a stunning ceremony exclusively covered by OK! magazine in Turkey.

Rio’s three children played an important part in his wedding day to Kate, with the former reality star sharing a very close bond with the kids.

Tia acted as Kate’s maid of honour and was the first person to see her in her stunning wedding dress, while Lorenz and Tate walked her half way down the aisle.

They went on to welcome their son, Cree into the world in December 2020 and are now a happy family of seven following the arrival of baby daughter Shae.
