Kate Middleton Is Prim and Polished in a Peter Pan Collar for Her Latest Virtual Engagement

The Duchess of Cambridge is trying out one of the fall season’s most popular fashion trends.

In her latest virtual appearance, the duchess hosted a video call, speaking with the families of those in the British Armed Forces to honor Remembrance week in the United Kingdom. And for the chat, Kate wore a satin ivory button-down with ruched shoulders and a bold, contrasting Peter Pan–style collar courtesy of Ghost London. The duchess pinned a single commemorative poppy to her collar, as the flower has been the country’s national symbol of remembrance since the First World War. Pairing her top with sharp matching black trousers, the royal finished off the look with a pair of pearl drop earrings.

Kate’s participation in the conversation marks a return to working-from-home royal engagements amid the U.K.’s second lockdown to help stop the spread of the coronavirus. During the call, Kate listened to the stories of those who had lost loved ones to war and applauded them for their emotional strength.

“It’s been a real honor to speak to all of you, and I think I speak for the whole nation when I say just how proud you should be of your loved ones and for the sacrifice and the bravery that they’ve shown,” she said. “I’ll certainly be thinking of you this difficult week and will be for many years to come.”

This latest virtual chat follows Kate’s in-person appearance at Sunday’s Remembrance service at the Cenotaph in London. The Duchess of Cambridge appeared alongside her husband, Prince William, as well as Prince Charles and, of course, Queen Elizabeth II for the socially distanced commemorative ceremony.
