Kelsey Parker opens up about grief and says she’s ‘forever grateful’ to Tom

Kelsey Parker has shared an emotional message about grief in the festive season, as she approaches her second Christmas without her late husband.

Kelsey tragically lost her husband, The Wanted star Tom Parker, in 2022, two years after he had been diagnosed with a brain tumour.

Since then the mum-of-two, 33, has been open about her heartbreak and feelings of grief, including how she has navigated becoming a single parent and a young widow.

And as she approaches her second Christmas without Tom, Kelsey has shared a sweet video of their two children Aurelia and Bodhi to her Instagram page, where she has also penned a caption reflecting on her feelings of grief.

She wrote: "The strength these two give me. What would I do without them? This is such a hard time of year for so many of us and I feel like the last few months have been a real challenge but these two get me through with a smile."

The mum-of-two continued: "I love nothing more than flicking through my camera roll at night (when they’re peacefully sleeping and not asking me 5000 questions per minute) to remind myself of what I do have, not what I don’t.

"I am determined to make Christmas joyous for them. Their hearts are filled with happiness and I don’t want anyone to make them sad, especially not me.

She continued: "They are the light to my darkness, the rainbow in my storm, the love in my grief. They are the happiness in my sadness. Tom gave me them because he couldn’t stay and I’m forever grateful.

"Thank you babe. I miss you but you’re here. In every song, in every giggle, your light shines behind their eyes #grief #livingwithgrief #brothersisterreel #positiveparkers #griefjourney"

Earlier this year, Kelsey opened up to OK! about her lasting grief, telling us: "There’s no guidebook to grief. Grief won’t ever leave me; it won’t go away.

"I’m never going to wake up one day and go, ‘Oh, Tom who?’ I’m learning to live around my grief. It won’t get bigger, it won’t get smaller, it’s just going to remain the same until I die.

She also revealed how he has remained a part of her family's life, as she said: "He’s still very present in the house. His pictures are everywhere. We’ve still got his book [Hope: My Inspirational Life] out and his records up. We talk about him every day.

"Aurelia said to me just recently, ‘You’ve always put me to bed.’ And I said, ‘No, Daddy used to put you to bed.’ And I was telling her how Daddy used to look after her.

"Bodhi is just a mini version of Tom. He’s been wearing his cap back to front, which was Tom’s signature fashion statement, and his personality is so much like Tom’s. He really just makes me laugh."
