Lauren Goodger finally receives diagnosis after ‘feeling like I’ve been hit by lorry’

Lauren Goodger said she feels like she’s been “hit by a lorry” as she revealed she’s been diagnosed with Strep.

The 36 year old gave the health update in a post shared on Instagram Stories, following a rush to the doctors on Thursday after falling ill.

Lauren confirmed her diagnosis as she shared a photo taken from inside the doctor’s waiting room.

She wrote: “So I've got Strep (throat infection) so it's bed for me."

The former The Only Way Is Essex star told followers that she’s had to seek childcare for baby Lorena as she’s become so poorly with the throat infection.

Lauren added: “Larose is at my dad's to give me a few hours rest.

"I am on anti-biotics. My body feels like I've been hit by a lorry – a few times."

According to the NHS, Group A Streptoccous is a type of bacteria that develops into infections that are usually mild and easily treated, though some are more serious. Symptoms include tonsillitis, a sore throat, cellulitis and those that are flu-like.

Lauren’s representative said following her diagnosis: "Poor Lauren is feeling terrible, she has all the symptoms of Strep A and with it being rife has been advised not delay in getting seen.

"She has an emergency appointment. Friends and family are supporting her as she recovers."

Lauren’s friends and family are said to have been left convinced she had caught Strep after falling so ill.

A source told The Sun: "Lauren was in tears she feels so awful. She's rushing to her GP today.

"Everyone fears that she's got Strep A. Poor Lauren – it's one thing after another and this is the last thing she needs before Christmas."

A scary outbreak of Group Strep A has spread across the UK this past month. The infection has led to 15 children’s deaths in cities including in London, Cardiff and Belfast.

Lauren’s illness comes at the end of what has been a traumatic and difficult year for the reality star, after her second daughter Lorena tragically died in July, shortly after being born.

The grieving mum has since vowed to get healthy mentally and physically as she has taken up a new fitness regime and changed her eating habits.

Lauren told OK! last month: “After everything that happened, I stopped eating completely. II just physically didn’t feel hungry because of the grief and anxiety. Now I’m in a healthier place because I can eat again.

"It means I’m healing. I’ve got Larose and she’s very active. She walks everywhere, so I’m always on the go.”
