Louise Thompson shares frustrations amid ongoing health issues

Louise Thompson has opened up about her ongoing health struggles and revealed she may have a rare condition known as Asherman’s syndrome.

The former Made in Chelsea star has spoken candidly about the physical and mental impact of the traumatic birth of her son, Leo, nine months ago, including her PTSD.

On Tuesday, the 32-year-old let out her frustrations to her 1.4 million followers about the lengthy hospital wait times, as she opted to go private for a scan.

In a series of posts, Louise shared updates about her symptoms including ‘pretty bad’ cramping and revealed she’s not having a period for 10 months.

The reality star took a selfie in a black hoodie with minimal make up, as she sat in the back of the taxi on the way to a clinic.

Alongside the snaps, she explained: ‘Off to my 10000000x medical appointment this year dressed as a worm. Going to go and have a scan of my pelvis. First one in about 3 months.’

‘The NHS are saying I’ll have to wait months longer for a follow up appointment, so I’m going private…

‘Bit of a joke really when I still don’t have any answers as to what’s going on in that region and the last ultrasound was ‘inconclusive’ and the guy joked that it looked like there was something white and shiny in there.’

What is Asherman’s Syndrome?

Asherman’s syndrome, also known as intrauterine adhesions, is a rare condition where scar tissue can build up inside your uterus.

These adhesions can then make the space inside your uterus smaller and cause complications.

Symptoms include:

  • Light periods, irregular or no periods
  • Menstruation pain without any bleeding
  • Recurrent miscarriages
  • Difficulty conceiving

She added: ‘My cramping has started to get pretty bad and I still haven’t had a menstrual cycle 10 months sooooo.’

Louise said that despite sharing these medical updates online, her followers ‘don’t know the full extent of what happened.’

‘I don’t know why I look to you guys for answers given that you don’t know the full extent of what happened,’ Louise wrote next to a picture of her Chanel bag.

‘I actually received an investigation report with details thicker than the complete works of Shakespeare the other day but I’m afraid to open it.

‘I was also scheduled to have a private hysteroscopy (small camera inside) in July but it coincided with my readmission to hospital for my ulcerative colitis, so it’s been on the back burner. Sometimes I can’t believe this is my life.’

However, Louise was more upbeat after the appointment and praised the staff for being ‘kind’ and ‘trusthworthy’, as she revealed a potential new diagnosis.

Over a photo of the picturesque street, she penned: ‘Harley Street clinic is iconic.

‘Just had my appointment with the kindest and most trustworthy obs/gyne…it’s likely that I have adhesions inside my uterus causing something called Asherman’s Syndrome.

‘A hysteroscopy would offer a better look inside the cavity than an ultrasound but because I might need to start thinking immunosuppressants, having non-essential surgery isn’t really an option.

She also explained some of the side effects for her followers, she said: ‘The main impacts of Asherman’s are: painful cramping and fertility problems.’
